PODCAST EP. 271: A BOY’S FIRST PHEASANT AND PREVIEWING THE 2024 SEASON OF THE FLUSH Host Bob St.Pierre is joined by Travis Frank, host of The Flush, to preview the television show’s new 2024 season on Outdoor Channel. The guys kick off the conversation with a fun debate about which characters they most resemble from 1990’s sitcoms, then talk about their philosophical differences in approaching podcast preparations. The highlight of the episode comes with Travis discussing his personal trepidation about filming his son’s first pheasant hunt and the joy he experiences raising two daughters and two sons as hunters and anglers. Travis also shares the horrific experience of getting a fishhook in his eye and his miraculous recovery. Listen at https://lnkd.in/gK3QG66a w/ Travis Frank & Ron Schara Productions

🟣 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁! This episode was not actually the one that was originally planned fort today, but in light of the awful events in the United States yesterday I decided to share some reflections about the failed assassination attempt. In particular, the various reactions to it, and the unwillingness of some to take responsibility, to accept reality as it really is, or to act with basic human decency in the face of this evil. 🔥 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗗𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 or by becoming a $5 monthly Patron at patreon.com/LeftFootMedia

Whenever we follow our guiding star into new territory, we can expect fear to show up. As Martha talks about in this episode of The Gathering Pod: Building on Bright Spots, we can calm our fears by getting creative. First, notice what makes your amygdala afraid. Then calm it like you would a frightened animal by using soothing self-talk. Another thing we can do is question any panic-inducing stories we tell ourselves. They may sound rational to our left hemispheres, but if they cause fear, they are always false. When a true story gives you a challenge, it comes with a sense of willingness, peace, and some knowledge of the next step—it's still the star. Even if you're in the dark, it’s a calm still point. As Martha says, “The true story for you is always different from the one that causes fear.” You can listen to the full episode, Episode 97, here: https://lnkd.in/dZqUdcRt
