🎉 We're blown away by the number of breastfeeding families who attended our inaugural Latch On event. Over 100 proud parents came together on August 15th to publicly breastfeed their babies, socialize, and support each other at PHFE WIC's 3rd annual health and resource fair. This event connected over 1,000 happy families to community resources like breastfeeding support, dental health, early education, child care, behavioral health, books, diapers, and more while they enjoyed a family day at the park. Special guests Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, Dr. Blayne Cutler, President and CEO of Heluna Health, and Kiran Saluja, Executive Director of PHFE WIC, spoke in honor of breastfeeding families and the work WIC does to make breastfeeding support accessible. Thank you to our dedicated WIC staff and community partners for making this a successful event. 😍 Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chinatown Service Center 華埠服務中心, GARFIELD HEALTH CENTER, Options for Learning, HealthNet, Foothill Family, Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, Pacific Clinics, Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Asian Youth Center, BreastfeedLA, BrightLife Kids, Gracelight Community Health, Children's Dental FunZone!, SPIRITT Family Services, El Monte City School District #phfewic #cinnamoms #breastfeedingmonth #wicworks

In honor of #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, we're giving you an exclusive preview of evaluation findings for NACCHO's Continuity of Care in Breastfeeding Support Blueprint program. In 2023, we conducted a mixed methods #Evaluation with seven local-level organizations that were funded to strengthen community lactation support using the Blueprint. Key findings included: ✅ The Blueprint helps to build a culture of breastfeeding by offering strategies that address each level of the socio-ecological model. ✅ The Blueprint can be feasibly implemented by offering a comprehensive set of strategies with the flexibility to prioritize the strategies that build on work already being done. ✅ Participating in the program helped to create a foundation of work that led to additional funding. ✅ Funded organizations were able to unify partners and improve access for lactation support within their communities. 🌟 World Breastfeeding Week 2024: Closing the Gap - Breastfeeding Support for All🌟 From August 1st to 7th, we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week with this year’s theme, "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All." This theme highlights the urgent need to ensure that every parent has access to the support they need to successfully breastfeed, regardless of their circumstances. Breastfeeding is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of early childhood development. Yet, many parents face barriers that prevent them from providing this vital nourishment to their children. By working together to close these gaps, we can create a more equitable and healthy future for all. At the P.G. Department of Population Studies, Fakir Mohan University, we are dedicated to advocating for inclusive breastfeeding support that reaches every family. Let’s join hands to promote policies, provide resources, and foster environments where breastfeeding is fully supported. Let's make a collective effort to raise awareness and take action to ensure that breastfeeding support is accessible to everyone. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community. Happy World Breastfeeding Week! As we wind down the celebration of this year’s World breastfeeding event, and celebrate the power of breastfeeding, let’s not forget the importance of education and support for women in low-income communities. Primary healthcare plays a vital role in empowering these women with the knowledge and resources they need to breastfeed successfully. Did you know that in many low-income communities, breastfeeding rates are significantly lower due to lack of access to education and support? Primary healthcare providers can bridge this gap by: -Providing continuous training for midwives, nurses and community health providers -Providing accurate information and addressing concerns about breastfeeding -Offering one-on-one support and counseling -Connecting new mothers with local resources and support groups -Advocating for policies that promote breastfeeding-friendly environments Let’s work together to ensure that every mother, regardless of her income or background, has the opportunity to breastfeed and reap its numerous benefits for herself and her child. Share your own breastfeeding experiences and tips in the comments below! #Bogfoundation #WorldBreastfeedingWeek #PrimaryHealthcareMatters #BreastfeedingSupport #LowIncomeCommunities #MaternalHealth #GlobalHealth”

🤱 Celebrating Breastfeeding Week: a personal journey 🤱 I've come out of my maternity leave bubble to add to the incredible advocacy that has been present this week, honoring mothers and promoting breastfeeding. Having been dedicated to this cause both personally and professionally I have to say, breastfeeding is a team sport 😂 educating one’s self and finding a village to cheer you on are essential. What a joy to feed and grow a small human. I am so grateful for an encouraging family, a supportive workplace, and a community surrounding our family. The postpartum journey is not to be navigated alone, yet so many people do. Parent support is not optional; it’s essential. Support has never meant more to me. There are a few things that have been game-changing as a breastfeeding mother: 💙 A family who believes in responsive caregiving 💙 The Do More Foundation’s support of family priorities and valuing exclusive breastfeeding as a workplace value too 💙 A community surrounding our family with phone calls, meals, and encouragement from near and far. 💙 and Lastly, the ongoing simple and practical messages from mothers and breastfeeding champions who remind me daily of the long-term benefits and the incredible community of feeding mothers—even at 03:00. 👌🏻✨ So here’s the point: support for all. That’s you—mothers, fathers, caregivers, and their systems who enable successful feeding. You are heroes, putting the growth and development odds in the next generation's favor. I’m all in, are you? These not only helped me achieve my breastfeeding goals but also uphold key messages which we stand by as an organization through our nutrition education program, Eat Love Play Talk. #BreastfeedingWeek #SupportMothers #DoMoreFoundation #EatLovePlayTalk #ResponsiveCaregiving #CommunitySupport #NutritionEducation

Two days after my second daughter was born, in August 2011, the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) officially declared August to be National Breastfeeding Month (NBF) at an event hosted by Howard University Hospital and the DC Breastfeeding Coalition. This year, the 2024 NBM theme is Nourish, Sustain, Thrive, selected, according to the USBC, to “shine a light on why protecting, promoting, and supporting lactation is so important for the human life cycle, honor the incredible work that organizations are doing to make the world a little more friendly for new parents and families and highlight how individuals, funders, and policymakers can contribute to a strong and sustainable lactation field.” Organizations, funders, and policymakers, what have you done for NBF month? There is still time left to do something – for ideas, see the USBC-recommended inspiration guide, which includes a free, easy-to-use and downloadable SoMe kit:

Breastfeeding Week: Closing the Gap for a Healthier Future As we conclude Breastfeeding Week, it's vital to reflect on the progress we've made and the work still ahead to ensure every mother and child has the support they need. Breastfeeding is not just a personal choice; it's a public health imperative. It promotes better health outcomes for both mothers and infants, reducing the risk of numerous diseases and fostering a strong bond. However, significant gaps remain in access to breastfeeding support, education, and resources, particularly in underserved communities. This week, we celebrate the strides made towards: Enhanced Support: Increased availability of lactation consultants and support groups. Education Initiatives: Programs that educate new and expecting mothers about the benefits and techniques of breastfeeding. Policy Changes: Workplace policies that provide time and space for breastfeeding, making it easier for working mothers to continue. But there's more to be done. Let's continue advocating for: Universal Access: Ensuring all mothers, regardless of socio-economic status, have access to the resources they need. Community Support: Building strong networks within communities to provide ongoing support and encouragement. Continued Research: Investing in research to further understand and address the barriers to breastfeeding. Together, we can close the gap and build a healthier, more equitable future for all. #BreastfeedingWeek #CloseTheGap #PublicHealth #MaternalHealth #InfantHealth #mpnhm The Antara Foundation mp wcd

🌍 Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility🌍 As we celebrate #BreastfeedingWeek, I am reminded of the immense importance of safe and effective breastfeeding practices. Breastfeeding is a SHARED RESPONSIBILITY of #MOTHERS, #FAMILIES and #SOCIETY that impacts the health and well-being of our communities. As a doctor, I am committed to supporting mothers and families in their breastfeeding journey. Here’s how I contribute to this cause: 👩⚕️ Education and Advocacy: I ensure that every mother I interact with receives comprehensive information about the benefits of breastfeeding. I advocate for breastfeeding-friendly environments both in healthcare settings and the broader community. 🤝 Support Systems: I work closely with NGOs and community organizations to create support networks for breastfeeding mothers. Whether it's through workshops, counseling sessions, or community outreach programs, I strive to provide the support that mothers need. 🩺 Professional Guidance: Safe and effective breastfeeding requires proper guidance. I offer personalized consultations to address any challenges mothers face, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to breastfeed successfully. 💼 Policy and Practice: I collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals to implement policies that promote breastfeeding. From hospital practices that encourage skin-to-skin contact to workplace policies that support nursing mothers, we must create an enabling environment for breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is a natural and vital process that offers numerous health benefits for both mother and child. However, it requires the collective effort of families, healthcare providers, employers, and policymakers to create a supportive ecosystem. Let’s continue to spread awareness, provide support, and make breastfeeding a shared responsibility. Together, we can ensure a healthier future for our children. #BreastfeedingWeek #Healthcare #CommunitySupport #SharedResponsibility #BreastfeedingAwareness
