Teachers' Day provides an opportunity for students, parents, and communities to express their gratitude and appreciation for teachers. Celebrations may include ceremonies, awards, and various activities that highlight the exceptional work of educators. Schools often organize special events where students can express their thanks through letters, performances, and gifts. These gestures, while small, are powerful in acknowledging the hard work and passion that teachers bring to their profession.
Furthermore, Teachers' Day serves as a reminder of the need for continued support and investment in education. Recognizing the efforts of teachers is not just about one day of celebration; it is also about advocating for policies and resources that support and empower educators throughout the year.
Teachers' Day is a celebration of the invaluable contributions of educators who dedicate their lives to nurturing and guiding the next generation. As architects of our future, teachers shape the intellectual and moral development of students, influencing their lives in profound ways. By acknowledging their efforts and addressing the challenges they face, we honor their commitment and ensure that the profession continues to thrive. This day of recognition not only celebrates the past and present contributions of teachers but also highlights the ongoing need to support and appreciate those who mold our future.

Scholastic’s 2023 holiday message made this literature lover’s heart grow 3 sizes! The video reminded me instantly of my AP English teacher’s mantra that “language is power.” This very mantra is what inspired me to become an English teacher. Who knew that nearly 12 years later, that same mantra drives my current exploration of new careers in copywriting, editing, and roles rooted in communication!
Much like the concept mentioned in the video, I used to implement a similar lesson within my classroom after the New Year. Students would choose one word that represented their goals and visions for the next 365 days. Not only did this lesson encourage students to make time for self-reflection amidst the stress and chaos of midterms, it also reminded students of a very important message. Our words carry weight— not only the words we speak to others, but also the words we speak towards ourselves.
During this time of year and beyond, let’s choose our words wisely. My word for 2024? Clarity. Here’s to a healthy and successful 2024!

When I think about the reason California Community Colleges and Santa Ana College means so much to our students, community, alum and to me personally, I think about the purpose around our mission to empower the most talented individuals.
Santa Ana College Alum C.J. Wilson and former Angels Professional Baseball player and former Don player--awarded the California Junior College Co-Player of the Year award and I had a fun moment connecting a few years ago during Santa Ana College's 100th celebration.
Seeing moments like this again remind me of love of the game of life and higher education and why it all matters so very much. C.J. Wilson
