The name of your business or brand can go a long way towards helping you achieve success. For instance, my wife, Barbara, and I were driving down Kneeland Street in Boston recently when Boston Kitchen Pizza caught our eyes. Sure, we both love #pizza, so that's one reason we were drawn to their sign. But the name of the restaurant on the sign sounded like they might be the official pizza of the city or something. I also noticed that they said they served Boston's best pizza as well. So why would we go anywhere else for our pizza? They're the best, right? You know and I know that a lot of other restaurants in #Boston probably make the same claim. That's #marketing. That's #advertising. That's business. That's important to note how far the name alone of your business or brand can go in getting the undivided attention of your customers and prospects. #MarketingLife

Katz's Deli is popping up in Los Angeles this weekend and GUESS how much one sandwich costs... $45 (!!!) And you know what? They are DEFINITELY going to sell out. This is another prime example of the power of brand. Katz’s is known for their iconic mile high sandwiches and commitment to quality (And the iconic When Harry Met Sally scene… IYKYK) They have built a legacy as a top sandwich that you can only get in NYC. So, by offering the sandwich in LA for just one day, you create scarcity, allowing you to sell it at a higher price. But this isn't a new idea. Consider All' Antico Vinaio, the famous Florentine sandwich shop that recently created a permanent shop on Abbot Kinney in LA. The result? Long lines, viral social posts, and sandwiches that people pay 4x the initial cost in Italy. The shop's been open for months, and people are still lined up around the corner every day. Another great example is In-N-Out Burger. A West Coast cult classic, In-N-Out created mass hysteria when they expanded into Texas and Colorado. People waited in line for OVER 12 HOURS to get a burger. The limited availability outside of California has made each new state expansion a scene, driving demand and reinforcing the west coast exclusivity. My takeaway? Things are more appealing when they are not available to everyone. So... would you pay $45 for a FAVORITE sandwich? #brandmarketing #katzsdeli #brandexpansion #marketing

Granola Bowl Effect 🍚 People only see the simplicity of an offer on the outside but what they don’t see is what that’s made of, the effort, the energy and the resilience that’s required to create and grow. As I sit in the beautifully designed Elio cafe in Mailbox, Birmingham. Now as a customer I’ve just sat here, ordered and paid for a granola bowl but let’s look at the process of how this granola bowl got here. Something so simple yet so much effort was required. So first there was an idea by an individual to open the cafe, he had to negotiate the rent and then spend money on the fit out and the design, he had to trial and error the menu which required staff and training. The blueberries came from Chile, Poland or France where someone was picking them out, packaging, selling and transporting them. The granola arrived from food manufactures, the bananas from Africa and the peanut butter from Manchester and the yogurt from UK or Europe. The list goes on but when speaking to business owners try and understand the struggle they face, it’s hard to sometimes acknowledge the amount of things that go on behind the scenes to present a beautifully presented offering. And from a different perspective as business owners it’s easy to look at the finish line of our business journeys but it’s time we acknowledge and look after the ingredients that make it so amazing. #FoodForThought #MindsetMondays

Why is 7th Street Burger so popular? And how did a trip to Oklahoma inspire their secret recipe? In 2020, Kevin Rezvani owned a burger chain called Diesel and Duke, but he wanted a fresh start so he sold all five locations. This was peak COVID. It wasn't the best time to start a restaurant, but he was confident in his game plan. Simple menu, cheap burgers, and staying open till 3am on weekends. 7th Street Burger was born. The zombie shift ended up being a cheat code because instead of $1 slices, bar crawlers and club rats were stumbling into 7th Street. Word spread and lines were out the door. They were so busy they'd sell a thousand burgers on a Saturday night. Those late nights came with problems though, brawls started to break out and they had to hire extra security. Demand was so crazy they had to take their phones off the hook and revamp their operations just to keep the orders flowing. That system worked, so they took the formula and repeated it all over the city. Now they're up to 16 locations. But what makes the burger special? And how did that trip to Oklahoma fit into all this? Kevin took a road trip during COVID which actually inspired his future recipe. Two specific burgers really impressed him - the Slider Shacks in Detroit, and the Depression Burger in El Reno, Oklahoma. Famous for their thinly sliced onions smashed and cooked into the patties. That experience gave him the vision for 7th Street and now he's executing it to perfection. #NYCBusiness #StartupStory #FastCasual
