#Hypertension is a silent disease affecting millions worldwide. After the World Hypertension Day earlier this month, I wanted to emphasize the importance of awareness and action in combating this global health issue. At Servier, we are committed to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hypertension. For the past seven years, we have been dedicated to enhancing hypertension screening through our #BecauseISaySo global awareness campaign. This initiative aims to provide patients with the necessary information and tools to make regular blood pressure monitoring a habitual practice. Together, we can make a significant impact on reducing the burden of hypertension. #BeTheCaptainOfYourLife by #CheckYourBloodPressure regularly 💪 #BecauseIsayso Corina Jarquin Chems Eddine DJEGHLAL Liliana Alvarado Arévalo Michael van der Walt Caroline GIACOMONI (BELLAICHE) Anne VENOT Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/em5W7qBP

According to the World Hypertension League (WHL), hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a major contributing factor to the global rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). It is considered the primary risk factor for death and disability worldwide. The WHL initiated #WorldHypertensionDay in 2005 with the objective of raising public awareness about this silent yet deadly condition, and to mobilize global efforts in combating hypertension. This year, the theme is a call to 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.’ #PSKAT60 #Hypertension #Pharmacology

Managing a chronic, life-threatening disease like #HoFH is a difficult task. There are many treatment approaches, which are very expensive as most rare disease treatments, and in some countries they are not reimbursed or not available. Along with the medical treatment, life style modifications are required (in diet, exercise, work, activities etc.) in order to improve the daily routine and quality of life. Let's unite our voice with those suffering from HoFH to ask for accessible treatments! Persons with HoFH, apart from their medical treatment, need strength and perseverance. Our support and empathy can help them immensely to navigate through the challenges of living with such a demanding chronic disease. #Unite4HoFH #RareDiseases #KnowHoFH #FindHoFH #Maythe4thbewithyou
Managing #HoFH requires a life-long, multi-pronged #treatment approach beyond what is typically used for other forms of hypercholesterolemia. This may include a combination of statins, ezetimibe, PCSK9 inhibitors (for those with some LDLR residual activity), possibly LDL apheresis, a blood filtration procedure to remove LDL cholesterol, MTP inhibitors and ANGPTL3 inhibitors. Unfortunately, similar to many rare diseases, treatments for HoFH are often very expensive, not always reimbursed, or simply not available... and that holds for many people around the world. Without appropriate treatment, individuals with HoFH have a significantly reduced life expectancy compared to the general population due to the increased risk of cardiovascular events and complications from a young age. Treatment is more than just medication; it's evidence of the power of progress and perseverance. Let's complement treatment with empathy. For three decades, I have been a steadfast companion to statins, those lipid-lowering medications prescribed with the aim of maintaining my cholesterol levels within a healthy range. This is further exacerbated by the spectrum of opinions out there on the internet regarding the utility of statins — from fervent endorsements to adamant declarations that they are an unnecessary expense. Friends in the latter camp assert that high cholesterol is not a true culprit in the saga of atherosclerosis. So, what does the science say. This article is my assessment to perhaps reassure myself and for my own peace of mind. It's also an acknowledgment that the landscape of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD) is nuanced and that the discussion surrounding statins will persist, branching into multifaceted arguments and counterargument. By sharing this article with you; I hope that you will come away with a deeper understanding of atherosclerosis and how it has multifaceted risk factors that are independent that needs to be managed. In Part 2 which I will be posting in the future; I will address some of the controversies that are out there in the internet and perhaps find some answers to them. #projectmanagment #construction #humanresources #malaysia #wellness

On May 17, 2024, JBIT College of Pharmacy observes World Hypertension Day. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, affects over one billion people globally and is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease and premature mortality. Two-thirds of instances of hypertension are found in low- and middle-income nations, where the burden of the disease is disproportionately felt. This is partly because these populations have experienced an increase in risk factors in recent decades. Furthermore, around half of those who have hypertension are ignorant of their illness, which increases their risk of needless medical problems and even death. GLP-1s are popular, but are they the solution to our obesity problem? “What we know is that the efficacy and safety profile of these medications is substantially better than any weight loss drug in the past, while our obesity epidemic has only ballooned,” Ceci Connolly & Sami Inkinen said in their The Health Care Blog op-ed. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/e_Ny3NeN
