Tickets for Kacey Musgraves' Deeper Well World Tour started pre-sales yesterday, with tickets officially being sold to the public this upcoming Friday. After details regarding ticket pricing for the tour were released, some fans online voiced disappointment that the tour uses dynamic pricing. So, what is dynamic pricing? When a tour or specific event chooses to use dynamic pricing, the prices of each ticket will fluctuate based on demand for each show. As a result, two people sitting in the same section at a venue might have paid drastically different prices to attend the event, depending on how in demand the show was deemed at the time of purchase. Fans who have purchased tickets through the tour's pre-sale events have documented specific price points based on the location of each seat. The KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, where Kacey Musgraves will perform on November 12, created a seating graph showing how each seat is initially priced. However, the bottom of the image includes a disclaimer stating that the prices can change at any time. POST COVID RECOVERY 😷 I was asked by a fund-raising colleague last week how things were going for arts orgs on the ticketing side. And more specifically how Vatic was able to assist in that recovery. Not in a snarky way, but I think they were genuinely curious how dynamic pricing could benefit the performing arts coming out of such an extreme downturn. Well. there are two paths that we've seen thus far: ↩ ↪ 1) Especially last year, we saw softer demand. All those patrons who still weren't ready to come back to a venue. #socialhesitancy But often for these organizations, the folks who were ready to come back, were REALLY ready. They placed a higher value on the experience. 💵 So, we helped orgs make up for the loss of ticket buyers by charging a bit more for the folks who were happy to pay. 2) Then this year we've seen a lot more price sensitivity. Consumer sentiment has been in the 🚽 And so for these organizations, dynamic pricing lowered average ticket price. But then they made up for it by selling more tickets. 🎟🎟🎟 Perhaps you thought dynamic pricing only worked one way. But, actually it's effective both directions, you just have to have the right algorithms. 👩💻

One more time communication plays a crucial role when setting up #Dynamic #pricing. Transparency and a balance between pure price efficiency and a brand’s mystique and image must be considered together when using this price model, as the case of the #Oasis concert shows 🎸 For instance, Ticketmaster could have rewarded the fans with access to pre-sale tickets that they may not be resold (by having their name on it) and charge premium for first day of selling premium seats (keenest customers/resellers) and adjusting them real-time by demand. Then, communicating that prices will fall for less premium seats on the second day, and ending up closing the sales with some extra first day tickets through sponsors campaigns. If Ticketmaster could have communicated all this strategy before selling the tickets, they could have benefit in revenue and brand reputation through this pricing approach, while allowing customers to plan their budgets and rewarding fans in the process. https://lnkd.in/ef24ey3J
