If you really care about the mission of a non profit, then donate your money without restrictions. Overhead and staff salaries are what actually makes a non profit work. The organization is non profit, not its workers. They have the same bills to pay. And if you want good people to do the work you’re not willing to do, then you need to pay for good people and a suitable work environment. Executives included. If you pay a CEO 40k a year, your going to get a 40k a year CEO handling your donations.

Why work in the charity sector? 💡 I've recruited for various charities over the last 7 years, and for me, it's more than just money. The most successful people I've placed in charities have been more interested in the culture of an organisation, its mission and its purpose. Knowing that their work has a direct, positive impact on society and makes a real difference in people's lives is something that money can't buy. There are loads of recent surveys out there confirming that people have a higher level of job satisfaction than compared with other sectors in the UK, as well as a lower percentage of people looking to leave. VC Talent has proudly supported numerous technology and projects/change professionals in joining or finding new homes in this sector. Our Suited for Success team, (including staff, volunteers and trustees), business supporters, and charity partners are gearing up for our two-week 'Give Up to Lift Up' fundraising campaign starting next Monday 11th March. From fasting for 24 hours, ditching the car, and walking to a BBC presenter not talking for two days, and many others on the team taking part too! Between 11th March - March 28th, we are all dedicating a day to giving up something and in doing so putting ourselves partly in the shoes of some of our unemployed clients, especially with the cost of living challenges. We're challenging ourselves to raise £20,000 in sponsorship that will directly support Suited for Success in helping our candidates back into employment. In addition, one of our valued charity partners Culture Recruitment Group are also hosting a fundraising quiz night with clients and local businesses to raise further funds. Looking for insights from my network! I’m currently helping a charity that is run entirely by volunteers and they’re preparing to hire their first employee. One unique challenge they’re facing is that this employee will be line managed by volunteers. Happy International Day of Charity! Did you know that you can support charities with a cause close to your heart, without giving financial donations? Financial donations to charities are incredibly helpful, but not everyone has the means to do so. So what else can you do? Volunteer your time! Many charities are constantly seeking out new volunteers in for in-person or remote support, from giving your time to act as anything from a voluntary trustee to being a virtual admin assistant. Where is the best place to find a voluntary position? There are many websites where you can do this but my personal favourite is CharityJob.com where you can search for paid and voluntary roles and filter your search results by charitable cause. How much time do you have to give? As much or as little as you can work around your life. I have signed up recently to be a virtual buddy for Sense - a charity whose mission is: 'We believe everyone should be able to take part in life, no matter their disability.  Our work helps thousands of people who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities to communicate, experience the world and fulfil their potential.' If this sounds like something you are interested in then start looking at working with a charity of your choice 🙌
