When it comes to Social Media, here’s 5 critical metrics tourism businesses should track to determine social media success: #1 Reach: This metric shows the number of unique users who have seen your content. For tourism marketing, a high reach means your tourism business is being exposed to a wider audience of potential visitors. #2 Engagement Rate: This measures how much your audience is interacting with your content through likes, comments, shares, and clicks. For tourism businesses, engagement indicates how compelling and relevant your content is to potential travellers. #3 Profile Views: It is a metric to show how engaging your content is as a intriguing profile can compel the audience to click through to learn more about the account behind the content they enjoy. #4 Website Traffic: This metric tracks how many visitors are coming to your website from your social media channels. It's important for tourism businesses to drive traffic to their sites where more detailed information and booking options are available. #5 Conversion Rate: This measures how often your social media content leads to a desired action, such as booking a trip, signing up for a newsletter, or downloading a travel guide. It directly ties social media efforts to business outcomes. Are you using these metrics as part of your monthly reporting? #tourismmarketing #hotelmarketing #destinationmarketing #hotelmarketingtips

My friend, the brilliant Angela Kim, just dropped this phrase I can't stop thinking about: "You've got to turn tourist content into loyalty content" We were talking about it in the context of a social strategy that doesn't just entertain or answer a question before people bounce — but the stuff that will keep them coming back for more. This shifts the focus from just attracting followers to keeping them engaged. You're actively engaging with comments and questions, showing your followers you care about their experiences. You're sparking conversations by asking open-ended questions, running polls, or hosting AMA sessions. You're facilitating community connections between your followers, not just broadcasting to your audience. You're humanizing the brand and showcasing employees and company culture. You're developing a strong brand social identity and signature series that don't rely exclusively on memes. Nothing wrong with memes but a lot of brands create great culturally relevant content — how do you follow up with content that keeps you top of mind in your category? And most importantly, you're creating great content that benefits your customer and incorporates them into the mix when you can. These days, people expect to be co-creators in their online experience. This is just the stuff I thought of but I'm sure there are a million ways to interpret the phrase. What's your take on tourist content versus loyalty content?!
