Let's celebrate diverse learners!🌟 Understanding IEPs (individual education plans) is a vital skill for pediatricians. When done well, you help build a supportive community for ALL students. Learn more about how to best contribute to your patient's academic success below! "The most important factor to keep in mind when caring for a child with an IEP or 504 plan is that this plan should be personalized for every patient. While two students with the same diagnosis — take ADHD for example — might benefit from similar accommodations like quiet test environments or breaks to move their bodies, each student needs a plan exactly suited to them. Just as medication and therapies affect each body differently, plans must be tailored over the child’s lifetime and educational needs." #IEP #ChildMentalHealth #Physicians #Doctors #Pediatrics #Pediatricians #PediatricPractice #PhysicianPractice #MedicalPractice

The pause is everything. If we can learn to take that moment between what we feel and how we react, particularly in times of stress or frustration, outcomes improve not just for our children but also for our own mental health and wellbeing. #parentingtips #parentinglife #mentalhealth #earlychildhood #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation #selfregulation #wellbeing
The impact of enhanced reflective capacity - the ability to pause and consider context and engage empathy, curiosity, and thoughtfulness - is monumental in parenting. Reflective practice is also critically important for service providers, supervisors, program developers, and policy makers... all of whom often find themselves working in stress-infused, transactional, compliance-driven systems that are not built to support thoughtfulness and relationally-driven approaches to our work. Reflective practice allows us to respond, rather than react. Terrific thoughts from Tina Payne Bryson, PhD ! #reflectivepractice #mindfulness #childwelfare #childrensmentalhealth #earlychildhoodeducation #pediatrics #preschool #policy #relationshipsmatter #preschooler #parenting

Why is core strength important? It helps children in their day to dry lives, holding their bodies upright and having the stability to move slowly and quickly during all daily and gross motor activities. In other words, core strength supports kids as they live their day to day lives. Getting books into the exam room has an added benefit: Reach Out and Read clinicians use them as a developmental tool! During well-child visits, clinicians watch how young children interact with their Reach Out and Read book; assess developmental, motor, and speech milestones; and review parent-child interactions and family dynamics. Medical providers demonstrate ways caregivers can engage their child while reading together, like letting them turn pages and delving into the pictures — asking the child to identify objects and making up stories about the images — all of which support early literacy and parent bonding. Recent research shows returning caregivers were significantly more likely to engage in these positive shared reading behaviors. #ReachOutandRead #SharedReading #MomentsThatMatter #RoutineBonding #Family #ChildrensBooks #ReadWithYourKids #WellChildVisits #Pediatricians #Pediatrics #HealthCare #Parenting #LiteracyMilestones #DevelopmentalMilestones

How can nursing students know if they are using NCLEX qbanks incorrectly? If you are doing nothing but CAT exams & self assessments, you are using the qbank incorrectly. How should nursing students use the NCLEX qbanks CORRECTLY? Study the 4 client needs areas separately every day and pick a different area of content daily (pediatrics, adult, mental health, maternity). Why should you study the areas separately? You need to find any areas that you are performing poorly on. By separating out the client needs areas as well as the content, you can find your Achille’s heel. Hit that follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks! For NCLEX tutoring/coaching, find me in my bio, click on my site, & click the green consult button!
