I agree with taking good preventive steps but fall resilience is a much more useful approach to take - because falls are part of life - so better to invest in ways to improve your resilience overall. Visual Tracking & Falls: Fear of falling often leads individuals to focus solely on the steps right in front of them, neglecting to prepare for what's ahead. A taped obstacle course with 2 different choices of paths: Step on the orange tape or yellow tape path. They must decide before they do the course. The course starts with 'crossing the river' at the widest point they think they can cross (encouraging longer steps). A taped obstacle course offers a low risk, 1-dimensional course for them to follow. This can be advanced by using boards, steps, foam pads etc. A dual-tasking element can be added by having them carry a weighted grocery bag or cup of water.
