As part of the 'Professor Visit' program organized by Asahi Newspaper, I visited Ehime Prefectural Niihama Nishi High School on Tuesday, December 12th, and delivered a 90-minute lecture to about 780 students on the topic 'Integrating Arts and Sciences in the Digital and Global.' This lecture introduced the practical content of the interdisciplinary education model at Shiga University, aimed at nurturing data scientists demanded in society.   Furthermore, I discussed projects promoting problem-solving through the use of data, based on my real-world experiences with digital transformation projects in various Asian countries. I provided specific examples and emphasized the importance of understanding and empathizing with diverse cultures and values, as well as communication skills, in global IT market.   Additionally, the lecture highlighted Shiga University's initiatives focusing on student action, such as 'hands-on' seminar activities, physical engagement, and identifying problems independently, as well as study tours to Thailand.   The high school students who attended the lecture gained insights into the importance of explaining findings from data analysis, the excitement and passion of working globally, and were inspired to pursue their future dreams. In a 30-minute discussion session after the lecture with about 20 interested students, a deep dive into questions and answers was conducted, focusing on the importance of language arts, concerns about learning mathematics, and the knowledge behind language skills. This served as an opportunity to understand the necessity of broadening perspectives and the importance of curiosity and logical thinking.
