And it was a success! We had an incredible day yesterday hosting remarkable women who graciously shared their experiences and insights at our inaugural event, "Metamorphosis in Motion: Embracing Change in Women's Professional Journeys," organized by the ACN Women's Forum. Our panelists Benedicte Mundele & Brenda Bih Chi and keynote speaker Aurra Kawanzaruwa delved into their personal journeys, navigating transitions from STEM fields to social sciences, managing businesses, and navigating pivotal moments. Throughout their narratives, they emphasized the importance of not allowing challenges to define one's path. Here are some key takeaways from the event: 1. Support systems are very important when going through changes. 2. Focusing on what's working amidst adversity is crucial for resilience and growth. 3. As you pursue your mission, do not let the discouragement that comes from your community hinder you from pursuing your goals. What Are Women Doing... They are creating significant impact across various sectors globally, yet often need to be recognized, compensated or appreciated accordingly. Here are key areas where women's contributions are particularly noteworthy: 1️⃣ Leadership - Countries with more women in parliament tend to experience lower levels of corruption, highlighting the integrity and effectiveness women bring to political leadership (UN Study across 125 countries) 2️⃣ Business - Companies with gender-diverse Executive Teams were 25% more likely to achieve above-average profitability (McKinsey & Company 2020 research) 3️⃣ Innovation - Diverse management teams, including women, lead to a 19% increase in revenue from innovation (Boston Consulting Group study) 4️⃣ Global Peace -  Peace agreements are 35% more likely to last at least 15 years when women participate in the peace processes (International Peace Institute) 5️⃣ Social Impact - Educational enrichment, quality and access, advocacy and policy reform across the globe for over 60% are represented by women (UNESCO) Today, we highlight Elaine Perlman, a woman who has made a tremendous impact in education, leadership, and now healthcare by pioneering organ donation. By donating a kidney, she is catalyzing and promoting organ donation and demonstrating the impact of personal action on public health initiatives through advocacy and community engagement through several organizations she founded, including the New York City One Kidney Club, Kidneys for Strangers, and Vegan Kidney Donors, aiming to foster a supportive community for current and potential donors. We are thrilled to feature Elaine as a Leader of the Week on the cover of Legacy Magazine as we celebrate International Women's Day. She is an excellent example of what women are capable of achieving. Today, we also want to give a round of applause to all the women who are profoundly impacting their own lives and the lives of others. When it comes to celebrating women, it is common to see conversations about their accomplishments. There is that huge tendency to concentrate on their results without paying as much attention to the journeys. Should we celebrate results and accomplishments? Absolutely. However, is our life bigger than an award, another project, or another promotion? Absolutely too! We must guard against the tendency to refuse to think ourselves great just as persons until we are able to "prove" ourselves with a result. Like my mentor says, we are human beings, and not human doings. Our lives are far greater than our results. Another international women's day is almost here. And in the midst of the celebrations of grand accomplishments, there is the need to also sustain conversations of the genuine beauty of simple womanhood. We need to see the beauty in the journey of women, not only in their accomplishments. We need more young women to see the beauty of the journeys of the women who have gone ahead, not only their results. This is why I am hosting the Emerging Women Summit as an International Women's Day event to celebrate the beauty of the journey of diverse women and learn how they navigate their everyday lives of being a career professional, entrepreneur, ministry gift, wife, mother, and more. On the occasion of International Women's Day , I want to express appreciation to three remarkable women marie-christine jonon (Sourcing leader), Catherine MOLLE-EPAIN (Site Leader Service transformers oil lab), and Claudia Blanco (Innovation & Customer Partnerships Officer) —for their insightful contributions during the recent conference organized as part of the #womennetwork, focusing on "inspiring women."   Their interventions served as profound moments of reflection, prompting us to reassess certain beliefs and drawing inspiration from their invaluable experiences.   There's a shortage of female role models in various professions, these women shine as prime examples, highlighting the critical importance of diversity in our industry. Today is International Women’s Day 2024 - #InspireInclusion. We need to do much more to drive parity, equity, and inclusivity. So. Much. More. Women who inspire me with their courage, creativity, and compassion. Women who challenge me to grow, learn, and make a difference. Women who support me, mentor me, and lift me up. I also want to acknowledge the challenges that women still face every day. The barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential. The discrimination, violence, and injustice that they endure. The stereotypes, biases, and expectations that limit their choices and opportunities. We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go. That’s why we need to stand together, speak up, and take action. We need to empower each other, educate ourselves, and advocate for change. We need to celebrate our achievements, but also demand more progress. This International Women’s Day, let’s pledge to be #ChooseToChallenge. Let’s challenge the status quo, the norms, and the systems that hold women back. #WETHEWOMEN We the Women was launched at the margins of the 2023 SDG Summit by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and H.E. Svenja Schulze, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.  The We the Women campaign is part of the Women Rise for All initiative—a global network of women leaders from the UN, governments, academia, civil society, private sector and beyond—started by the UN Deputy Secretary General in 2020 to recognize the transformational leadership of women in response to COVID-19 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The #WetheWomen campaign is a global movement to engage the world’s women in shaping global solutions into the future. It is reaching out to the world’s women through various channels. It invites their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations – what is the world they want, how do we get there, and what do they expect from the international community to propel us to this vision. The #WetheWomen Global Survey is the central piece of the #WetheWomen campaign. It will gather the voices of women throughout the world and collect data on women’s perspectives about global priorities and how the international community can address them.  The survey is asking women questions about how they see the future, their priorities, fears and hopes, and how global leaders can listen to them and support them as we collectively address issues, challenges and opportunities of the future. Through the Global Survey, we aim to collect the insights of women around the globe on the issues they care about most. These opinions and observations will then be shared with key decision makers and provide an essential part of the Pact for the Future to be adopted during the Summit of Future taking place in September 2024 at the United Nations Headquarters.   This survey will be open between March 8th and 30th. All answers will be kept confidential and anonymous - results will be aggregated The link to the Global Survey is in the first comment.
