Be Bright, Be Seen, Be Safe, that is the message from Road Safe NI Charity as the darker evening are on the way. With darker evenings now upon us, the charity is reminding people of the simple but sensible actions they can take to keep themselves and their families safe when out and about. Dark days combined with foggy and misty weather all have an impact on visibility. To stay safe when walking, cycling or scooting to school, parents and carers are reminded about the importance of fluorescent and reflective materials on clothing. Fluorescent fabrics work well during daylight but won’t show up in the dark so it’s important to also look for reflective fabrics and consider adding reflective tape to bags and clothes to ensure you can be seen in the dark by car headlights. Anyone cycling during winter months should ensure bike lights are clean and in good working order. It is important to remember, it is against the law to cycle at night without a white front light, a red back light and a red reflector at the back of your bike.

Our film "Biketown" has helped raise $100,000 for trail advocacy groups around the country. In 2021, Port Side Productions partnered with Freehub Media to produce a documentary film called "Biketown." Inspired by our local mountain bike community in Bellingham, WA we set out to create a film that would inspire mountain bike communities around the country to find a path forward to form partnerships with their local land managers. The result? - A 45-minute film that has been viewed 390,000 times - 44 in-person screening events around the country - $100,000 raised for local trail organizations around the country A film with a strong call to action can be an incredibly valuable tool when deployed well. Not all projects need a strong call to action, but when community action is needed, there is nothing like the power of a story to move people. Curious to learn more about what it took to develop this project? https://lnkd.in/gj2ye8nG

"🌱 Leading Renewable Energy Transition using AI as Project Manager at CEM Engineering | Spearheading Biogas & RNG Innovations | Driving Sustainability and Client Success 🌍"
At the end of the day, we all want to build our communities and make sure everyone can thrive. My friend Chris Storoschuk is doing just that by donating items for bid for the Waterford Skate Park! The Waterford Skate Park initiative is all about building a 55,000 sq ft concrete skate park that welcomes everyone. With multi-terrain areas, the park is designed for all skill levels and abilities, ensuring no one is left behind. It’s more than a skate park; it’s a platform for growth, learning, and healthy living for our younger generation. We’re committed to adaptive participation, making sure the park is wheelchair-friendly. Here’s why this project matters: - Community Hub: A place where youth and families can come together, fostering a strong community spirit. - Inclusive Design: With multi-terrain areas, the park is designed for all skill levels and abilities, ensuring no one is left behind. - Focus on Youth: It’s more than a skate park; it’s a platform for growth, learning, and healthy living for our younger generation. - Accessibility for All: We’re committed to adaptive participation, making sure the park is wheelchair-friendly. Let’s make Waterford a better place to live, play, and grow. Your contribution can spark a positive change. Everyone knows how important 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭. I want to share Valentina Litvinova volunteer project, where she created an amazing visual design for the Trail Tromp event. In my opinion, the 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐨 beautifully captures the essence of the forest, and the 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 in the visual perfectly reflects the spirit of this project. If you are looking for a Product Designer or UX/UI expert, I highly recommend reaching out to Valentina Litvinova 😊 #recommendation #GraphicDesign #UX #UI
🌟 I’m excited to share that I received a kind recommendation from Janet Barlow! Thank you Janet, it was a pleasure to work with you! Recently, I volunteered with Hike Nova Scotia to create new 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗼 for their upcoming 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽 event. Even though I am now specialising in UX/UI, as someone who loves the outdoors, I was inspired by Nova Scotia's breathtaking scenery and didn't hesitate to give back to the community and train my graphic design skills from the past 🙂 For this project, I focused on capturing the essence of beautiful landscapes, integrating vibrant colors and natural elements into the logo to reflect the spirit of exploration and adventure. 🌲 Check out the details for the Trail Tromp event on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟲 by visiting Hike Nova Scotia's website: https://lnkd.in/eErp7fN9 and their Facebook page: https://lnkd.in/ei6THi33." #Recommendation #GraphicDesign #Volunteering #Hiking #Outdoors

The countdown is on! EyeRide 2024 is almost here, and we can’t wait to pedal with you. Before you hit the road, make sure you’ve got these must-haves: 1. Bike Helmet: Your trusty helmet is your best friend on this ride. Safety is key! 2. Sunscreen: Lather up to keep those UV rays at bay. Sunburns are no fun! 3. Water Bottles: Hydration is crucial. It’s going to be a hot day so we recommend bringing 2 water bottles on your bike. Fill up your water bottle at home and bring it along. There will be electrolyte available at the start line. 4. Sandals or Extra Shoes: After a long ride, you’ll want a comfy pair of shoes. Pack some sandals or extra shoes if you’re in cycling shoes. 5. Your ID and Health Card: Be prepared for any situation by bringing your ID and health card. 6. Bike Repair Items: Be prepared for small repairs. We highly recommend bringing 2 spare tubes, a small air pump, tire irons and patch kit. Our Lions Clubs International partners are excited to support EyeRide. They’ll have snacks, water and electrolytes at Schomberg and Stayner, plus they’ll provide lunch at Alliston’s PPG Park. We encourage riders to stop, hydrate and refill your water bottles along the route. For riders ending in Collingwood, we will be ending the ride at The Collingwood Brewery where you’ll receive a beverage and dinner. The weather is forecasted to be sunny and 27°C, so plan accordingly for your comfort and safety. We will be cycling rain or shine! You can donate and support EyeRide by clicking on the link here: https://lnkd.in/dmnfKrPu #EyeRide #EyeRide2024 #Fundraiser #Volunteering

🚴♂️ Pedaling Toward Adventure: My 8th Year Riding from Seattle to Portland 🚴♀️#STP2024 It’s that time of year again – the annual pilgrimage from Seattle to Portland, a double century journey that tests both body and spirit. This will be my eighth year participating in this epic ride, and each time feels like a new adventure. The road to Portland isn’t one I travel alone. For months leading up to the event, I’ve been part of a tight-knit cycling team. We’ve logged countless miles together, pushing our limits, sharing stories, and encouraging one another. There’s something magical about the camaraderie that forms during those early morning rides – the wind at our backs, the pavement stretching out before us. While the physical benefits of cycling are undeniable, this ride is about more than just personal fitness. It’s a chance to build community, raise awareness, and give back. Our team partners with the Cascade Bicycle Club, supporting their mission to promote cycling advocacy, safety, and education. We ride for a cause – raising funds for nonprofits and championing social responsibility. ****The Final Push**** Training for this event is no small feat. Four months of dedication, early mornings, and hill repeats. But as the mid-July weekend approaches, the anticipation builds. We gather at the starting line, our bikes gleaming in the morning sun. The countdown begins, and suddenly, it’s just us, the road, and the promise of 206 miles ahead. So, here’s to another year of spinning pedals, forging friendships, and crossing that finish line in downtown Portland, we’re on a mission, fueled by passion and powered by two wheels. Date: July 13th-14th, 2024 #SeattleToPortland #CyclingAdventure #CommunityRide #STP2024 #CascadeBicycleClub #AshaforEducation #Inclusivity #Partnerships
