The Apprentice - Week 2 💼 I'm sure yesterday caught the attention of many viewers as soon as cheesecakes were mentioned - while I myself am not a fan, it certainly got my partner's attention! 🍰 The project brief was simple - manufacture miniature cheesecakes to sell to both members of the public, and a bulk order to a corporate client. The episode taught us this: - The best person/team on paper is not always the best person/team in practice. - Don't hide in the shadows in a team task - if you're not in a leadership role, do your tasks to the best of your ability, and go above and beyond where you can. - While it is important to take accountability for your mistakes, there is a limit! #theapprentice #bbctheapprentice #foodproduction #foodmarketing

On Resilience and Leadership 🌟 Watching an old clip of Conan O’Brien, he spoke about the grind of hosting a talk show - how, despite being sick or tired, the show must go on. This struck a chord with me, especially reflecting on my own experiences and those of many in the hotel and restaurant industry. I’ve been ill, seriously at times, and I’ve seen colleagues face even harsher trials, from battling cancer to enduring profound personal losses. Yet, they show up to work, embodying a level of dedication that’s both admirable and humbling. #this is what the legendary #hotelmanagement and #restauranteurs understand more than the 98% of the rest, and they have policies procedures in place, but it starts with living it, being a role model that understands, empathizes, and knows it, from living it. #agree? #disagree? Love to hear your thoughts. This isn’t just about obligation. It’s about understanding that our teams and our guests rely on us, not just as individuals but as part of a greater whole. Long Post alert! This morning I stopped at ChicFilA to pick up breakfast for our training class and for the first time ever I didn’t receive the expected “my pleasure” when I said thank you to my server. First I was taken back by it, and then I thought…..one instance does not change an established true culture. Because inside the restaurant there was a Bible group in the study, there were people smiling every where and she was extremely nice and timely with my large order at rush hour. So what does that say to us? 1. A true lesson of empathy. We all have moments in our life that seem out of character that does not change our true selves. Even though sometimes the world judges us for it. It’s ok…they judged Him too. Choose today to show empathy to someone that may seem not act as expected. 2. Lesson on entitlement. None of us DESERVE to be treated kindly, and when we are we should appreciate it. None of us have earned the right to kind acts or words, they are freely given by those who choose to be kind. Take time today to recognize someone who chooses to be kind without a motive. 3. Lesson on humility. We, individually, are a small part of each person we meet’s day, not a major one. We are not as important as we think we are in any circle. No matter the title or assumed power. Humility is understanding in real time your biggest impact begins internally and never outweighs anyone else’s beyond that. Be the culture you seek to live in….and let it be your pleasure! #pursuingwelldone
