Future coders, geologists and energy leaders came together for The University of Texas at Austin’s 4th Annual Energy AI Hackathon, sponsored by Pioneer. These students, ranging from undergraduates to PhD candidates, spent two days tackling real-world data to predict low pressure drill outs after fracking with guidance from industry mentors. A big thank you to the sponsors and mentors from Phillips 66, Chevron, SLB, ExxonMobil, Shell, ComboCurve and GE for making this event possible, and congratulations to all the participants for their impressive work and dedication to innovation! We look forward to welcoming the winning teams to our headquarters soon, where they’ll have the opportunity to present their work.

As the year comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that 2023 has been, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to each one of you who has played a part in making it special. This year presented its fair share of challenges, but I am proud to say that I emerged stronger and more resilient. The hurdles I faced served as opportunities for growth, and the lessons learned have become invaluable building blocks for my personal development. Celebrating victories, both big and small, would not have been as meaningful without the shared joy and enthusiasm from my amazing circle. Achieving some of my goals was a collective effort, and I'm grateful for the collaborative spirit that fueled those successes. • Got enrolled in the SEG-NAU Geoscientific Field Campaign II (A research project on Aguleri Environs on Groundwater Contamination). • Attended the NAPE International Conference and made Quality Connections. • Attended the 1st Hybrid Conference of Faculty of Physical science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University and Served as a Volunteer in the Exhibition booth and Did Poster Presentation. • Presented a Research Paper at a Conference. • Won the first runner-up in the NDLEA Undergraduate Quiz Competition in Nnamdi Azikiwe University which saw about 2500+ Students. • Got the L Austin Weeks Undergraduate grant from the American Association of Petroleum Geologist (AAPG) Foundation. • Got the position as the Vice President of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists - NAU chapter. • Got admitted into the Geoscientific Field Campaign organized by SEG Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Nigeria), Kansas State University (USA), and Uppsala University (Sweden) and completed it. • Got Recognized in the UNIZIK Bulletin. • Published a Research Paper on “Application of Geomechanics in Petroleum Reservoirs”. • Got an Internship at ExxonMobil Geoscience Workstation where I was trained on the intensive use of Petrel Software • Got honoured for Volunteering by Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) international. Yes, they are minor, but they mean a lot to me. Looking ahead to the coming year, I am filled with hope and determination. I aspire to build on the progress made, continuously learn, and embrace new opportunities for growth. May the coming year bring us more reasons to celebrate, grow, and cherish the bonds that make life truly meaningful. Wishing you all a joyous holiday season and a promising New Year! #professionaldevelopment

This week, the #geologicalH2storage SHINE PhD Summer Training School is in Grenoble! All recruited PhD students were welcomed by the Natural Hydrogen Observatory Group (https://lnkd.in/eBHMjmV), part of the European project SHINE (Safe underground Hydrogen storage IN Earth subsurface reservoirs). This training session included: -Fieldwork Experience: Engage in real-time data collection through gas sampling, geophysical monitoring, and on-site analyses. -Laboratory Work: Analyze collected data in a laboratory setting to deepen understanding of field observations. -Data Synthesis and Presentation: Compile findings and present hypotheses and conclusions in a scholarly setting. Our goal is to provide a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that diverges from traditional academic lectures, equipping students with practical skills and real-world insights. #naturalhydrogen
