Choosing the right large language model (LLM) for a project can feel a bit overwhelming, especially when most out-of-the-box solutions are too general for what our industry needs. These models need to be adapted for the energy sector and the specific domains within it if we want to adopt them. So, how do we go about selecting the right strategy? We asked four of our artificial intelligence experts to outline the advantages and challenges they see in today's most popular approaches: 🔵 Prompt engineering 🔵 Retrieval-augmented generation 🔵 Fine-tuning Not only do they give their recommendations, they also present a step-by-step decision tree for LLM customization that you can follow. Industrial decarbonization is essential for achieving global net-zero targets, and it requires collaboration from all players in the energy sector. 🔵 Tech developers, like SLB, must continue innovating to solve the current and future challenges of hard-to-abate industries. 🔵 Heavy industries, themselves, must be open to adopting and testing this new tech either in new lower-emission plants or by retrofitting the ones they have. 🔵 Governments and regulatory bodies must establish the right frameworks — ones that truly incentivize progress and tip the economics. 🔵 Consumers also have a role to play by demanding lower-carbon products, services, and solutions. While progress is being made, the world is asking all industries to move faster. How can they do that? SLB’s Nitin Goel and Joey Berry break down the situation clearly in their recent analysis:https://lnkd.in/gSVZsYBk

The AI transformation is here, but unlocking its full potential will require a digital platform infrastructure, domain-specific data, and the expertise of our teams across the industry. Earlier today, I joined Jason Zander, Emeka Emembolu, and Dan Bennett to discuss how the industry is innovating at the intersection of energy and intelligence. AI is the X factor, but its true impact will be determined by the people who use it. The most powerful solutions will be those that augment the knowledge of our teams, enabling us to reach new levels of safety, productivity, and performance. It’s been a great start to CERAWeek, and I look forward to visiting with many of SLB’s valued customers and partners over the next few days! #WeAreSLB #CERAWeek

Well integrity assessments are essential for minimizing the risks of storing carbon underground. This is especially true during the site selection and evaluation phases, when data collection, barrier analysis, and geological risk are combined to identify and analyze potential sites for carbon storage developments. So, what does properly vetted well integrity look like? And what does it mean for derisking carbon storage areas of review? Hugo Costeno, a senior well engineer in our New Energy business, takes a deeper look here: https://lnkd.in/gH4t9h_X
