-2024 is shaping up to be a significant year for Cyprus’ gas sector, this is because of: 1.Cyprus has given Chevron and its partners until 31 March 2024 to submit an optimized development plan for the Aphrodite field. This comes after the government rejected proposed cost-saving changes. 2.Eni’s drilling at the ‘Cronos-2’ target in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) block 6 seems to have uncovered a natural gas reservoir. Eni and TotalEnergies made a significant gas discovery at the Cronos-1 well, in Block 6, offshore Cyprus. Studies on a fast-track development option are already ongoing. 3.ExxonMobil has started drilling the Glaucus-2 appraisal well located in Block 10 offshore Cyprus5. ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum have also been awarded exploration rights for offshore Block 5 located southwest of the island. They are likely to drill a pair of wildcats in these blocks later this year. -These developments could potentially transform Cyprus into a significant player in the global gas market. However, it’s important to note that these projects face various challenges, including geopolitical tensions and the need for substantial infrastructure development.

This announcement by Chevron is another example of how well the Houston and overall Texas market is doing. Houston is the Energy Capital of the World. This not only includes Oil and Gas, but there are many alternative energy companies headquartered in Houston. Also, our oil and gas companies have major alternative energy divisions. They are no longer only oil and gas companies. Houston is also home to the world's largest medical center, The Texas Medical Center. We have a large healthcare industry and numerous world class medical schools. Other major industries here contributing to our positive economy are the petrochemical, refining, maritime, space, tourism, technology, and logistics. The real estate market has softened some, but it varies by area. Per Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), for July 2024 the number of sales decreased, the number of listings increased, and the days on the market have increased to more than July of 2023 numbers. Rates have dropped a little and some expect more drops. I can remember when 90-120 days on the market was normal and 8-10% interest was good. I work from Galveston to Conroe and Katy to Mont Belvieu. The greater Houston area is a large market. Welcome Chevron.
