Use a framework in your interview - STARR - Situation, Task, Action, Results, Reflection Use the job description to prepare - Ask yourself questions that are related to each point in the description. You can pull out interview questions from the job description. Have your cheat question - e.g What is your favorite product and how can you improve on it? Do Your research: Ensure you talk about trends that align to the role you’re interviewing for. Last Saturday was my favorite class. While I haven’t walked out of an interview, I have ended several phone screens where the interviewer was not respectful enough or the job was far below my experience and pay. There was one in particular, where the recruiter was shocked that I didn’t want to relocate MYSELF to Compton, for a 30% pay cut doing shift work, managing hazardous chemicals for a D list local manufacturer. Great advice by Liz on demanding the respect that all job seekers deserve. My advice to anyone looking to hire for jobs like this is…lower your expectations. Like to the bottom of the barrel. Wasting a 25% recruiters commission on a job that very few folks would ever want to take, unless they were desperate to work. Stop expecting ROCK STARS to work in sh&t holes and hire folks who are simply capable enough to do the job.
