It was a monumental moment in May 2023 when PIT staff signed the beam that would be used for our topping out ceremony, but spotting it in place while the terminal takes shape is also a special moment. Next, the high wood-paneled ceilings will be installed, adding to the terminal's grandeur and spaciousness. This feature will be a key element in creating an open and inviting atmosphere for travelers. The beam won't be seen anymore, but those who signed it will always know they made their mark in airport history!

🛏️ If you frequently have overnight visitors, you’ll want to read these tips for creating a comfortable guest room in your home. Put some thought into the décor As with any other room in your home, put some thought into the décor for your guest room. Use nice linens and blankets Invest in linens specifically for the guest room, and don’t forget warm blankets and a bedspread to match. Give your guests an actual bed If you’ve never slept on an air mattress, you know how uncomfortable the are. Provide the time somewhere Be sure a clock clearly displays the time so that your guests can see it at night, and make sure it’s easy to operate if they choose to use it as an alarm clock. Give your guests storage space No one likes to feel like they are living out of suitcases, so give your guests some space to unpack. A fascinating story about carpets across #ChangiAirport terminals! The carpets in Changi give each terminal its identity and character. There’s a lot of thought put in to why carpets should be used (to reduce noise of luggage rolled across the airport, reducing stress levels of passengers), and the type of carpets used (durability, ease of manouvering luggage and other items, ease of cleaning, and more). Late last week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and officials from Miami International Airport (MIA) celebrated the inauguration of the latest glass passenger boarding bridge at gate H17, marking a significant milestone in the airport's ongoing modernization efforts. The unveiling of the glass bridge at gate H17 follows the successful introduction of a similar structure at gate D14 in winter 2022. With plans to introduce 62 bridges in the first phase by 2028, Miami International Airport is poised to become the leading adopter of these energy-efficient innovations among U.S. airports. Glass bridges not only offer a sleek and modern aesthetic but also provide enhanced comfort for passengers, reducing feelings of claustrophobia commonly associated with traditional steel bridges. Moreover, their streamlined surface and superior insulation make them more energy-efficient, contributing to significant cost savings in cleaning and temperature control. The boarding bridge is that critical first step a visitor takes into Miami International Airport and Miami-Dade County.

#innovation can be as simple as considering the basic needs of your main user groups and acting on them. The innovation can be as simple as the way you do things, service your customers or meet their needs. I recently posted about the lack of consideration for user needs and experience in UK airport restrooms/bathrooms/toilets. I seemed to have struck a chord with a few people and Roseanna (Rose) May knew I'd love this article from USA TODAY It's great to hear that the US aviation industry is considering how they meet the needs of the changing user groups in #restroom design. I do feel that there is one lazy comment in their about industry standards. If standard doesn't fit, challenge it! So when designing spaces like restrooms it's key to understand the following points: - who will use it - how long have they been without facilities - what will they be bringing with them (luggage, coats, children, etc) - will there be enough room to enter, navigate and leave - is the flow correct for the order of use - is the lighting correct for ambiance and hygiene - are the facilities functional, inspiring, understandable - do the facilities meet multi religious requirements without causing unrequired impact on users (wet floors etc) - are the hand dryers too loud, too powerful, too quick - does someone walk away relaxed or frustrated (in themselves, not related to their movements) And most importantly: - can the cleaners do their job adequately, without impact, to ensure a clean environment is maintained and the design is maintainable for a long period of time without looking dirty, messy, or cheap There is alot to consider. You can't video bathroom usage, so the next best thing is to replicate the wide range of users and the people mass levels yourself to understand the issues users come across. Can you do all this for your products? Can you innovate your service by walking in users shoes? Can you ask what basic changes could elevate the interaction experience with your company? Try it. Pick a customer. Walk their user journey with them. Listen to their feedback. Look out for the challenges they have to overcome. Then, do it again for a different user. And again. Only when you start to see patterns, or changes that could benefit the neediest of users should you go about making changes. Then test and test again. https://lnkd.in/eepRNtGF
During the redevelopment of Terminal B, we were incredibly focused on the design of our restrooms, a critical piece of the guest experience. Terminal B's restrooms were designed to reflect LGP’s vision for a 21st century terminal, emphasizing efficiency, cleanliness and innovation. We enjoyed speaking to Zach Wichter at USA TODAY as he explored trends airport restroom design. #PaxEx #Airports
