Career Mentor - Not just finding you your next role but preparing you for it too!! Secured over $25M in salaries for our clients! Resumes & LinkedIn I Interviews I Negotiations I
If I wanted to be head-hunted by companies while I was still employed... I would try this... 1. Update my LinkedIn profile and resume every couple months with new facts about my current projects. 2. Update my resume on Indeed as well with these same bullets. 3. Post regularly - Daily, Every other Day, or Weekly on LinkedIn about the cool things I was working on. 4. Where possible I would keep up to date examples of my work in the "Featured" section of LinkedIn and on a personal "website" or "blog" that was featured on my LinkedIn for easy access. 5. I would add at least 5 comments a day that pushed the conversation forward with creators/influencers in my field. Let others see what you are passionate about and why! These 5 steps provided myself and clients to receive significant increases. I was personally head-hunted via LinkedIn for a +73% base + Bonus compensation increase! These things work! What would you add to the list that helped you get head-hunted?

📈 I Generate my LinkedIn Clients £20,000+ Revenue Within 2 Months and Connect Them With Publicly Traded Companies Through My LinkedIn Content Marketing. Freelance Content Marketing.
Last Week, I Had To Explain To My Old Man How Social Media Is Actually A Job For the 1000th time (Despite working in the field for 2 years) I’m fairly certain my old man thinks I’m unemployed. You know what? This isn’t really an issue, he’s from a different generation, he doesn’t get it. But it becomes an issue, When everyday I come on LinkedIn and see pitiful social media job postings with: ❌ Ridiculously low salaries (I’m talking graduate jobs as low as 19k) ❌ Ludicrous list of responsibilities (Enough responsibilities for a full team) ❌ Ridiculous expectations (Wants X number of followers) I’m glad that job postings like these are getting called out more and more. Because unlike my retired old man, It feels deliberate, almost like they're trying their luck. Since I’m a freelancer, This isn’t really my problem anymore. But I just wanted to voice my opinion. Hopefully, as more and more of these postings get rightfully criticised, The situation will improve. Finally, a big thank you to all the businesses that value social media professionals. You’re appreciated! What’s the worst job posting you’ve seen on LinkedIn? #socialmedia #socialmediatips #freelancer #contentcreation #personalbranding #strategy

Mad about Tits & Bits | Communications & campaign specialist: B2B/B2C health/medical & technology/data/cyber | Founder: Female Copywriters' Alliance | Health advocate | Family scrabble champion | "pocket rocket"
Judging by the number of job posts I've seen on LinkedIn over the last week, it seems like businesses have finally woken up from their Christmas food comas and are taking proactive steps for the year ahead. This is great news, especially for freelancers who've found the last year tough. However, one thing I've noticed is the increase in the number of people simply commenting "interested" on posts. There's a few people who aren't directly in my network, but who I've had pop up on my feed quite regularly as "connections of connections" who do this. Now if the advertiser was flogging an old coffee table on Facebook marketplace I could maybe understand this response. But for a job? A job where there's 100 other people jumping on the post, also "interested" in the position, and where the advertiser has countless individuals to choose from? When competition is fierce, you've got to stand out from the crowd. The person advertising the role is highly unlikely to take the time to see your "interested" and stalk your profile to see if you're a good fit, when someone else has clearly spelt out makes them suitable, what makes them different or why they should connect with them in their comment. I'm not saying I have it all figured out. Far from it. But I can guarantee you that an interesting comment is more likely to get you noticed than an "interested" one. Senior B2B Strategic Marketing Leader. Digital marketing and Gen AI certified strategies for scaling organizations and teams
Although today's job marketing is brutal (literally) and those of us searching can often feel like we're not making any progress, there are definitely some positives that I have discovered in my search efforts. 1) You may find you have more supporters than you think. I have been amazed at how many former colleagues and even LinkedIn connections have reached out to offer help or support 2) Salary- most marketing roles within organizations will yield a 3-4% annual raise (if you get one at all), while moving to a new role with a new company (on average) will yield a 10-12% increase in salary 3) It allows you to at least temporarily focus on yourself. I have been able to go back to my "content roots" and be able to post and create content that I'm passionate about and that resonates with me, rather than promoting another organization. Hang in there, it will get better #JobSearch #MarketingJobs

❓ How creative can you really get when applying for a job? 👀 Well, as someone who works for a social media agency (Spin), there are so many ways you can catch an employers eye! 🔎 For example, today I received an application from a candidate who had made their own Instagram page, tailored it to our brand colours, showed off their skills in a creative aspect and provided the evidence as well as the information as to why we should interview them! In reality, the sky is the limit 🌅 I go through so many applications a day, and the ones that stand out are the ones where you can tell the time, effort and research have gone into them! 💥 If you haven't already, THIS is your sign to get creative when applying for a new role (and applying to Spin!)

Heyo LinkedIn, You can probably guess why I’m here - linking in with old pals, schmoozing with big wigs, even changed my last name to match the site (oh wait, that was more of a patriarchy/tradition thing, scratch that). I’m looking for the next place to bring my pizzazz, my ebullient leadership style, my virtuosic way with content strategy, my sesquipedelicious copywriting. But I don’t have a clue why my resume isn’t pinging the gatekeeping robots to hand me off to a recruiter stat! Only kidding, I’m using my own robots to match my resume with job descriptions (thanks, Teal It’s just rough out there for job seekers - and recruiters alike I’m sure, what with the floods of resumes flowing these days. Anyhoozle, I took some time mostly off to welcome our little Marigold into the world (she’s a perfect ball of pure joy - just like her sister) and now I’m ready to make my next big move. So here I am hat-in-hand (it’s spring now, so I’ve recently swapped my beanie for my wide-brimmed gardening hat) asking if anyone knows anyone who needs a goofball like me on their team. Oh, I meant an experienced project manager, who is always brimming with creative ideas, has a knack for using data to drive decision making and is an empathetic team leader, but doesn’t like to brag. I’ve been in the digital marketing game for over 10 years - so I can set a content strategy and copywrite for max conversion with my eyes closed, although I typically do work with my eyes open. But, I am looking at my next move in a more world-is-my-oyster sort of way. I’d love to lean into my love of leading teams, managing complex projects and being a genuine help to other people - to put my softer skills to work at a place that is a good fit for me (and me for them). I’m exploring both marketing and customer success roles, at the moment. I’m looking to land in a high-growth environment full of smart people, and I do still plan to bring my creativity and love of writing with me. More than any certain job title, I’m craving the growth that comes from stretching to do your very best work yet, and striving to match the immense talent around you (not me getting wistful for the Photojojo heyday and the sweet-as-pie smarty-pantses I worked with there). So, if you’ve read this far - you’re so cool - please let me know if you can think of a place that could use a Laurel on their team, or if you just want to commiserate about job searching, or if you want any tomato plants (we have over 150 of them under lights in our living room and at least 120 of them need new homes come late-May). I do have somewhat of a portfolio at www.laurel.link feel free to pass it around.

Ready to make an intentional career move? Grab my free clarity guide👇 | Career Coach & Advisor for Mid-Career Professionals, Leaders, and Founders 👩💻
Here’s the worst way to write your LinkedIn profile. 1. Sit down and try to type what you “think” you should put on the page. 2. Tweak old copy that’s not relevant to where you’re going next. 3. Ask friends or family for feedback and then edit based on their answers, or leave it the same because they said, “It looks great”. 4. Hire a cheap service provider who makes what you had worse not better. This will likely result in a painful experience of slogging through your profile over the course of multiple days or weeks, cobbled together content with no consistency, and positioning that’s unaligned with a target audience. Here’s a much better way to do it. 1. Get super clear on exactly what your target is and how it’s connected to your core strengths, values, and interests. 2. Spend time researching the target so you know the in’s and out’s of the role and what you’d be doing in it. 3. Sit down with a blank piece of paper and write your little heart out, then add your accomplishments and proudest stories related to the role in human language (not jargony buzzwords), 4. Take a break for a few days, then go back, polish up your content, and add more results. This is much more likely to result in authentic and focused job search materials. Forget about “cleaning up your profile”, craft an authentically positioned one that speaks to humans and stands out from the crowd. #Careers #PersonalBrand #Jobsearch #Jobseekers

Ever consider how digital smudges could snatch a dream job from your grasp? 💭 A seemingly harmless online trail can often make your dream job a distant illusion. Prime culprits include off-color content 😐, posts with hints of indulgence in substances 🍷, and biased remarks 💬. Turn the tables! 🔄 Let your online persona be the reason employers can't wait to welcome you onboard 🚀.
