If the government was serious about fixing housing affordability… They would create a program like this: •A 30 year conventional home loan available at an interest rate 3.5% below standard conventional interest rate. •Must be a first time home buyer. •Must be NEW CONSTRUCTION and no more than 1,800sqft. •Owner cannot own more than 1 house within 5years of closing. The program ends in 3 years (I.e. no new loans after 3years) New construction adds supply (reducing pressure on prices), 3yr limit prevents over supply, 1 house ownership prevents individuals from building them to be a rental. Thoughts?
