Today’s lesson is: Not everyone will like you, and that’s OK! In life, not everyone will like or support you. When I was a student leader at university, I helped everyone with my whole heart and didn’t want to hurt anyone. However, some of my classmates didn’t like me and would often taunt me. They sometimes disliked my decisions, even when those decisions were in their best interest. On the other hand, many students supported me, and I motivated all my classmates. Whenever someone was struggling, I was always there for them. In life, not everyone will be in your favor. Even if you have a lot of money, people might only support you when you're in front of them. Brand marketing for startups? Is it worth it? That was one if the topics I talked about at my Growth & Branding workshop in Tehnopol. I was asked to mentor startups in DIANA NATO program (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) last week. Having a brand is necessary but brand marketing ROI depends on the phase. Early stage and before having product-market fit, companies get better returns from talking to their users and leveraging channels. Growth stage B2B is different gravy already and for them, strong product and brand help speedrun their attempt to capture market share. The importance of brand marketing continuous to grow as the company matures. I also talked about growth channels, who they are best for, and shared my top tips&tricks for each channel from TikTok to Tradeshows. Last week I held the first lecture as part of our joint course with the Ukrainian Startup Fund "PRACTICAL MARKETING FOR STARTUPS"🦾. We talked about creating a brand and "love mark", also shared how to increase customer loyalty and how to identify practical steps and tools to convey the values of business to your first customers and partners. Here are the main bullets for those who did not manage to attend the lecture: 📎Products and services are becoming more focused on particular segments and niche specializations. This means that focus and positioning are vital to deliver your value proposition effectively. 📎As a typical startup with lean budgets, it’s better to work on your branding the same way you work on your product development. You are starting with MVB for your MVP. The main components of MVB: Positioning - What makes you different? Naming – What’s your name? Descriptor - What do you do? Communication – What and who are you talking to? 📎At each stage of developing assets for your startup’s brand you can use various tools and frames for brand modeling, naming and communication. The life of a start-up entrepreneur is not all about roses. And you can take that literally with Shelley Rosen. Founder and CEO of Luxe Bloom, LLC , a Chicago based start-up. I give a few headlights about her lecture during another YTILI | Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative session last week: 🚀 The value of a brand is determined by the quality of the experience and the price. 🚀 Your brand is a promise to your target group by enhancing your mission, vision, strategy, internal- and external communication. 🚀 You don’t need to invent new products. Sometimes you just need to modify your product for your target audience to sell and ask more than the competitors. E.g. bagage on wheels instead of dragging bagage around. 🚀 Go disruptive by reducing the number of steps a product needs to travel. E.g. delivering flowers seeds directly from the manufacturer to B2B. An entrepreneur has a lot of different roads and struggles. That’s why to understand the start-up curve is really important. I tell you my story in the curve. I started Revaio 12 years ago. First with my passion for digital marketing. I soon realised that there are a lot of digital marketers and it’s not easy to succeed. The reality was that companies are not waiting for another marketing agency with the same offer. At a moment, I thought I better could quit and started something else. And so my passion for teaching appeared. Later on I started webshops and even a hosting company to see what my passion is and I realised that starting a new project is fun for me and has less risk than hoping that a marketing client stays with me. Now my passion is to give consulting about start-ups, fails and successes. That’s why I launched my Instagram account TheYellowEntrepreneur and soon launching a brand new platform for entrepreneurs.
