Day of AI Australian Champions – Congratulations Jenny Ton and Nyah Napoles Congratulations! Jenny Ton and Nyah Napoles in Year 8 who have were crowned Australian Champions in The Day of AI competition and have won $1,200 for their class for their entry in the Day of AI Student Challenge with their submission, Water PH Monitor. This is the 3rd consecutive year that Plumpton High School students won National Titles with Zain Al-Shible and Haaziq Anwaar in 2023, Caiden Bond and Alice Ton in 2022 and Ewen Neoh and Annacemone Nashid placed 3rd in 2022. The prize money can go towards setting up a great technology environment or experience. For example, the students could use the funds to purchase technology for the classroom (such as iPads, laptop, audio-visual equipment) or for an excursion to a tech-centric location for themselves or their class. Day of AI is a full day of highly interactive lessons for students’ year 5 to 10 on artificial intelligence (AI). Day of AI’s program is designed by MIT, i2Learning, and CS in Schools to support all teachers with AI education. In 2023 there were participants from over 110 countries, with 7,512 teachers ranging from large public classrooms in major cities to homeschooled children in rural communities. Educators are encouraged to teach the curriculum year-round. That has been the impact of our work to date. But we are continuing to expand. Developed by MIT RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education) researchers, Day of AI is a novel, low-barrier, high-impact short curriculum offered free of charge to K-12 students and their teachers. AI is for everyone, impacting our personal and professional lives, which is why we encourage teachers and students across all grades to utilize our materials to educate for the growing use of AI. A big thank you to Mr. Jaswal, Mr. Honeysett and Mr. Shakespeare for leading our Plumpton team in this wonderful opportunity and capacity building for our students. Also, to the TDI Foundation and CS in Schools for their support in enabling the event to take place in Australia. This school has no teachers! Alpha High School relies on AI and adaptive applications, replacing conventional educators with 'guides', who mentor students as they independently progress through their coursework. The system goes as far as to have AI-created historical figures explain their own histories, with basic comprehension quizzes. AlphaX is their program that gives students time and resources to pursue a bold project in something they’re passionate about. These are called Masterpiece Projects and can be rooted in any area of personal interest. By doing #academics more efficiently, they unlock time for AlphaX. The next generation will develop at a younger age, with a robust academic foundation, enhanced communication skills and resilience, and more experience applying their knowledge into real world projects. These educational paradigms represent the future of learning! However, attending Alpha comes with a price tag of $40k, making it currently inaccessible to most, but it serves as a preview of what's to come. Students will navigate through the curriculum at a faster pace, channeling the additional time into cultivating their passions and acquiring 21st-century skills! #futureofeducation #aiineducation #modernschool

"AI is here to stay, and its impact on the world of education will be profound," says Daniel Obregon, Chief of Partnerships at Leading Educators. So, what will teachers need to know to use it responsibly and equitably? 🗨 That question was at the heart of many conversations at the 2024 ASU+GSV Summit. Daniel, Maxine W., and Tyler Nakatsu share their takeaways: https://hubs.la/Q02wNhq90

In April, our grantee, the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), convened over 60 state and federal policymakers, edtech innovators, school system leaders, and advocates to discuss how AI can drive meaningful, positive change in education. In a new report, CRPE highlights key insights that emerged from this convening: how AI can enable needed changes in our schools, how current conditions in the edtech market act as barriers to closing equity gaps, and how policy and practice must adapt for lasting system change.

AI sucks at math, is hard to prompt, hallucinates often, and does work for students. 😬 It's no surprise that AI tutoring, despite the hype, hasn't transformed education just yet. But at Flint, we're starting to see that change. 🌱 We've spent the last year co-building with the top K-12 schools in the world to create AI for personalized learning that: ➗ Works in every subject, including math. ✏️ Requires 0 prompt engineering (but offers full customizability for teachers). 🧠 Pulls from teaching materials, just like a TA would. ❌ Doesn't give away answers to students. Today, Flint is used by the top schools in the world (United Nations International School, The Harker School, Brophy College Preparatory, etc.) and even by the UK Ministry of Defence to train their translators. Excited to share this latest product demo! We're just getting started.
🤖 AI tutoring is the future… but what will it look like? At Flint, we’ve been working closely with the top K-12 schools across the world to help teachers personalize learning for every student. 💡 Today, we’re excited to announce the latest version of Flint. AI tutors on Flint can now accurately do math (not possible with traditional LLMs), be customized based on any materials or teacher preferences, speak 50+ languages, and provide teachers with immediate insight into student performance. 👩🔬 And, with the addition of a template library, teachers can share their AI tutors with the broader community, allowing any teacher to remix and use them with their students! 🎁 We’re grateful for our continued partnership with incredible schools like United Nations International School, The Harker School, The Kinkaid School, Cary Academy, Brophy College Preparatory, The Westminster Schools, Pine Crest School, The Stony Brook School, Crystal Springs Uplands School, Wesleyan School, McDonogh School, The American School in Japan, and even the UK Ministry of Defence. 🗺 🏫 #ai #education #edtech #aieducation #personalizedlearning #k12

I joined Flint wanting to make a difference in education. It didn’t take us long to realize that shaping the future is… challenging, no? Then, what keeps us going? For me, there are 3 main reasons: 🏫 At Flint, we partner with a lot of schools around the world, and I got to witness first-hand the behind-the-scenes of teachers and admins whose efforts often go unnoticed by students — I came to learn who the real “unsung heroes” are. 🧱 There are a lot of adults (+ young people!) who are devoted to cultivating the future for the next generations. Just as “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” doing anything great will take time and patience — I came to learn from these people grit and tenacity. ☘️ So many people are collectively building upon the same future in their unique ways: from teachers, admins, parents, students, organizations, individuals and more — I came to learn we aren’t alone in this. Somehow, it all feels like a marathon race where everyone is running towards the same direction? (I haven’t run one yet, but aiming to) — and isn’t the point of marathon to torture ourselves for a long time so that we can look back at it towards the end? 🫣 And so… Our new update at Flint today is only the first water stop in a marathon race. 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏼♂️🏃🏻 More exciting things will come! If you are interested in joining us on this marathon (of shaping education), please share Flint with your teachers, schools, organizations, community, parents, or friends 🙏
