Big things happen when dedicated volunteers come together! Last week 150 CarMax employees spent the day at a Milwaukee public school, transforming classrooms, the staff lounge and even the garden bed. They tackled it all with energy and passion! Points of Light exists to connect nonprofits, companies and social impact leaders to inspire volunteers to meet critical needs and we’re immensely proud to witness the transformative impact made by the CarMax volunteers and our Global Network affiliates Volunteer Fairfax and Boston Cares. #VolunteerImpact #EmployeeVolunteering

What is community weaving In the practice of Community Weaving, individuals learn from Master Weavers who share their experiences and instruct them in the utilization of tools, techniques, and technology to cultivate their own social support networks within various spheres such as schools, neighborhoods, organizations, and businesses. Like-minded individuals, termed Good Neighbors, collaborate to establish shared resources such as furniture warehouses, childcare cooperatives, clothing exchanges, and community gardens. Additionally, they organize recreational activities like rafting trips, campouts, ropes courses, barbecues, softball games, paintball competitions, and vision quests. Furthermore, Community Weaving facilitates community improvement initiatives through the application of FSN technology, spearheading endeavors such as the closure of problematic venues, disaster response, establishment of neighborhood watch programs, fundraising for beautification projects, revitalization efforts, and the incubation of new businesses. To support these endeavors, local organizations such as the American Red Cross, Public Health Department, schools, faith leaders, businesses, and various civic, social service, and youth organizations are enlisted as FSN Partners. They provide essential resources such as free space for activities, access to speakers and educational materials, and complimentary trainings for FSN volunteers. FSN partners are equipped with the necessary training as Community Weavers, enabling them to effectively leverage the resources of the FSN to better address the needs of their clients. #communitydevelopment #educationalleadership #healthcare

Our monthly meeting of the Alignment Rockford Operating Board, as always, reinforced the simple concept: It takes a village to raise a child. In Rockford, our village is: ✅ leveraging population based data from the Early Development Instrument and Middle Years Development Instrument to align community resources to the needs of families at the neighborhood level and examine the needs of families post-COVID by asking them directly ✅ exploring how we welcome babies into our community through universal newborn supports and Basics Illinois kits ✅ providing resources for families to play and read together in spaces like community centers and laundromats ✅ helping families of young children create support networks and access the Discovery Center, a community gem ✅ wrapping community supports around 8 pilot schools to address acute local needs . . . and so much more. I'm looking forward to sharing more of this critical work with you. Why? Because the most important question we can ask as a school system and as a community is this: How are the children? And that answer to that question should drive our collective purpose. When the children are well, the community is well.

Community Involvement is key
We were thrilled to be recognized last week during the “Good Neighbor” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show! Our CEO, Richard Hicks, was a guest on the show last Friday, and the Inspiredu team was featured during coverage at an Inspiredu workshop. This honor reflects the dedication and effort of our team in supporting our community over the years. The generous $10,000 donation from Comcast that was announced during the show will support our mission to advance digital equity in Georgia communities. Get involved at www.iuatl.org. Three Years - got it done! I am so proud to serve on a Colorado Department of Education facility school workgroup. For the last three years we met monthly to set up new legislation, funding, and an entirely new school category for our wonderful community. Such an incredible group of leaders that volunteered many hours to make this possible. We celebrated together last week at the Daniels Fund. Specialty Schools are now a thing with SB- 23219! So many more opportunities for our community, and for TACT - Teaching the Autism Community Trades. This road didn't exist before, but it was needed, so we built it. Very grateful to be part of the team!

Business Development/ Sales Support at ByteCurve LLC | Optimizing School Bus Transportation for Seamless Operations
As we celebrate the 4th of July, let’s take a moment to reflect on the values that make our country great: freedom, unity, and a commitment to a brighter future for our children. This week is a time for fireworks, barbecues, and parades. Still, it’s also an excellent opportunity to support the essential service that keeps our kids safe and connected: school bus transportation. 🚌 Supporting Our School Buses: School buses play a crucial role in ensuring every child has access to education, no matter where they live. They provide a safe and reliable way for kids to get to school, participate in after-school activities, and connect with their communities. Just as we celebrate our freedom, let’s support the buses and drivers who work tirelessly to serve our children daily. 👧👦 Investing in Our Future: When we support school transportation, we invest in our children’s education and future. A well-funded and efficient transportation system ensures that no child is left behind and that every student can reach their full potential. This 4th of July, let’s pledge to advocate for and support the resources that keep our school buses running smoothly. 💛 Join the Cause: Here’s how you can help: 🚌Thank a Bus Driver: Show appreciation for the hard-working individuals who drive our children to and from school safely. 🚌Support Funding Initiatives: Advocate for local and state funding that supports school bus transportation. 🚌Volunteer: Get involved with local schools and community organizations to support transportation-related activities. Wishing you all a joyful and patriotic 4th of July! Bytecurve LLC #4thofJuly #SchoolBusSupport #KidsFirst #CelebrateFreedom #SchoolBusTransportation #Dispatchandtimekeeping #BytecurveLLC

📣📣📣 Today the Trust for Civic Life announced its first slate of grantees. Check out the link below if you’re curious about what solar panels on churches, small business loans, hands-on farming, and mobile libraries have in common. Spoiler alert: They’re all examples of how people across rural and small town America are innovating around collective decision making in ways that demonstrate small "d" democracy in action. At Omidyar Network, our Building Cultures of Belonging work is predicated on a belief that belonging requires more than just interpersonal or intergroup connection — it necessarily must be grounded in co-creation, agency, and voice. It’s not just about connections, it’s also about the containers that shape those connections — the places and spaces where people come together to problem solve across lines of difference. Recognizing the need to reimagine and reinvest in those containers — the civic infrastructure that constitutes the seams of our fraying democracy — is what led us to help establish the Trust for Civic Life, a grantmaking collaborative launched this year that connects national and regional philanthropy with rural efforts that strengthen community bonds, civic engagement, and everyday democracy. Proud to Chair this effort and be in active partnership with the Trust team, led by Charlie Brown, as well as Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Stand Together, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and many others. https://lnkd.in/eU_BJH4E
