Last night was DisruptHR Minneapolis was fun, fast-moving through 12 speakers, and insightful how the themes emerged of what it means to disrupt HR today. Some of the themes: * Create environments where it is safe for people to bring their true selfs, including tattooed arms like Kyle Roed. * Have a strategy to bring people together in genuine and connective ways like Jenna Ray does and spoke powerfully about. * Recognize that in your work environment people are managing so many parts of their lives including caretaking for others, which is an enormous load outside of their "day job." Heidi Orstad DNP RN PHN CCM showed all the ways that workplaces probably have resources already to support their folks but they have to understand the need. * Shamayne Braman spoke with deafening details about the consequences of not being fluid and skillful in issues of equity and navigating power differentials. This work is critical to a trustworthy work environment. * Josh Drean presented with a difficult-to-ignore perspective showing how workplace expectations and realities are changing dramatically, and if we don't keep up we will lose people and their creativity to other ways of working. * These themes continued and were reinforced by Dan Riley's presentation about trust and how we can inspire the people we work with through connection. Dan recognizes the ways that the world is changing and how businesses need to meet the moment. *And then there was Wendy S. Wiesman who rocked that stage with fun, and reminded us that we need to think differently about how we do our work and live our lives. Wendy is the founder and CEO of Ready. Set. Pivot. and has having an event next week as well. There were more great speakers and awards. This amazing event filled the Metropolitan ballroom and the attendees were as inspiring as the speakers.
