"There'll be 12,500 fewer cars on the I-45 once this thing opens, so I would argue that there's benefit for you," Byford said. "If you are, for example, an airline and you might argue what's in it for you, well, you can free up gates slots and planes to operate much more revenue-generating medium-to-long-haul routes than what is typically not very profitable, short-haul routes. https://lnkd.in/eDkUmvrN

The Government has outlined an ambitious vision for our sector, yet MCIA's Action Plan Scorecard exposes a gulf between this vision and its execution. To unlock the benefits of mopeds, motorcycles, and other powered light vehicles, national and local governments must prioritise infrastructure and road space allocation for these vehicles as part of an overarching strategy, rather than treating them as an afterthought. The Department for Transport must begin to deliver its Action Plan, in partnership with industry. You can read MCIA's Action Plan Scorecard here: https://t.co/IpG1LjbjOx

🧐Did you know that railroads help reduce congestion on U.S. highways? A railcar carries three to four times the amount of freight that a truck carries. 🚂One train consisting of 100 railcars will remove 300-400 trucks from the road. Consider the large amount of freight moving on the 🛤️road in the U.S., and you will quickly see the significant reduction in highway congestion, less wear and tear on infrastructure, decreased taxpayer burden for roadway maintenance, and ultimately an increase in safety on our nation's roads.

The accident in the #GotthardBaseTunnel, between #Switzerland and Italy, which took place one year ago, has led the European Union Agency for Railways (#ERA) to introduce new recommendations for rail wheels. The first recommendation entails a different classification for wheel types identified as high risk, while the second one includes changes concerning wheel re-profiling. #railfreight #railfreightnews #railcargonews

The Australian Government is taking significant steps to improve road safety with the announcement of six new projects under the Heavy Vehicle Rest Area (HVRA) initiative. These projects, backed by a more than $6.85 million investment from various government levels, aim to enhance facilities for truck drivers across the nation. The Australian Government's contribution of $5.48 million underscores its commitment to this initiative. Funded through the third tranche of the HVRA, these projects will receive federal funding of $140 million over the next decade. The initiatives include the construction of new rest areas equipped with essential facilities like toilets and picnic areas, as well as resurfacing, line-marking, and bitumen sealing activities. The projects span across different regions, including New South Wales and Western Australia. Notable initiatives include the Ted “Greendog” Stevens Truck Parking Bay Renewal in Wollondilly Shire Council, the New Pindari Tops Rest Area on Thunderbolts Way in Walcha Council, and the Mukinbudin Heavy Vehicle Rest Area in the Shire of Mukinbudin. #RoadSafety #InfrastructureDevelopment #AustralianGovernment Read more: https://lnkd.in/gNhmChSw
