Upon return from a relaxing family holiday I've been reflecting on the past year and the world of PBSA. It's been a busy year trying to close deals in a difficult market (mainly funding and construction). Our market leading team has been working on lots of nomination arrangements and income strip deals which, although not new to the firm, has filled the temporary gap left by large PBSA deals struggling to get across the line (and for many universities has been seen as an interim measure). As a deal junkie I very much hope (and expect) large PBSA projects to flourish again in 25-26. On my wish list (I don't think I'll be a scratch golfer anytime soon..): - a more benign funding environment; - more senior funders with an appetite for DBFO schemes; - more contractors with an appetite for DBFO schemes (and more pricing certainty around sub-contractor works packages); - more stock transfer schemes coming to market; and - an open approach to foreign students wanting to come here to study. #DBFO #PBSA

Integrity, not only is it one of the fundamental principles of accounting it's also one of the main beliefs I adhere to in life.✊🏿 My practice is still relatively new and I was given the opportunity a couple of months ago to lowball a quote by a potential client. I refused to quote lower than the fee quote they had received from another accountancy practice. Why did I refuse to quote lower? I certainly can do with the work and money.💷 I refused because, it's more important to me that each client I onboard knows I will deliver on what I promise. If I'm not skilled in a particular area I will tell them. I have even given advice to people who have asked me on the sort of questions they should ask any potential accountant they would like to engage, even after I've been unsuccessful in getting them to engage with Amcotshire.🤷🏿♂️ I currently only have a handful clients, but I ensure each and every one of them receives the best possible service from me.👌🏿😎 If it means it takes me longer to grow Amcotshire compared to other accountancy practices then, so be it. At least I can look at myself in the mirror each day and know I am more than happy with the way I run my practice and treat my clients, which is with respect and complete honesty.🤝🏿 Thank you for reading the above and also for the support you are giving me, even if it's something as simply as liking my posts. ACCC’s Expanded Powers   Our Treasurer has made an excellent announcement today: expanding the powers of the ACCC. I have been privileged to provide organisational culture consulting services to a wide range of “blue chip” organisations and I can honestly say that the ACCC has built and maintained one of the finest regulatory cultures. The ACCC’s culture is a shining role model for any organisation to learn from. Like every high performance organisation, the ACCC encounters challenges to its culture from time to time, but in my experience it used those challenges to enhance and improve itself. Every dollar Australia invests in constructively expanding the reach and powers of the ACCC will return significant benefits to both our economy and also to our nation’s consumers. I therefore hope that successive governments in Australia will continue to examine future opportunities to expand the reach and powers of the ACCC in other areas of the economy.
