What are intrusive thoughts? 🤔 An intrusive thought is an unwanted thought that appears in your mind. It could be an unhappy memory or upsetting urge. But, it is always just that, a thought.😇 Am I the only one who gets intrusive thoughts?🥹 No. Although they are unpleasant, they are very common. In fact, everyone gets them! The most important thing to remember is to not give ourselves a hard time over them. They are only thoughts and cannot hurt us - let alone anyone else. 😁 Can I make intrusive thoughts disappear?🧐 Unfortunately not. Fortunately, there is no need! The most important thing is to not give these thoughts attention. Treat them as the unimportant things they are and eventually they will fade into the background, where they belong! 💖 #connection #psychotherapy #charity #PowertoLive #psychotherapy #donatetoday #cognitivebehaviouraltherapy #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #functionalanalyticpsychotherapy #mentalhealth #thoughts #may #myths #tips #help #act #intrusivethoughts #therapy #intrusive #mythbusting

If life is a bus, you are the driver. As you drive the bus, you are living your life. Passengers will get on the bus, with passengers representing thoughts or feelings we get. 🚍 Some passengers will be lovely and positive, others are annoying and disruptive. These disruptive passengers are the intrusive thoughts. They might shout directions or try and get your attention, steering you away from the direction you want to travel in. 🌠 We could try to kick these passengers off the bus. But, what if they fight back? The more you struggle the less effective the driving you do. Intrusive thoughts are like this, the more we fight them, the more the distraction they are. 🆘 Instead of fighting these passengers, accept them. Let them be there but don't let them take over. Continue to move forward in the direction you want. 🆙 So what is the lesson? Accept intrusive thoughts - don't fight them. However, don't let them decide the direction of your life. Continue doing what makes you feel best. 🥹😁🌈 #connection #psychotherapy #charity #PowertoLive #psychotherapy #donatetoday #cognitivebehaviouraltherapy #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #functionalanalyticpsychotherapy #mentalhealth #thoughts #may #busmetaphor #thoughts #help #act #intrusivethoughts #therapy #intrusive #therapymetaphor #metaphor

Today, on the 14th annual #BellLetsTalk Day, we invite everyone to join the conversation to support people living with mental illness. Bell Let’s Talk has a vision of a Canada where everyone can get the mental health support they need, and at Tali's Fund, we know firsthand how much coping with childhood brain cancer takes a toll - not only on the physical and mental health of the child but also on the well-being of their loved ones. In the face of challenges, whether it's supporting a loved one with a serious illness or navigating any other obstacle, the burden may feel overwhelming. Yet, it's crucial to persevere, share your stories and emotions, and seek support from your loved ones. The journey may be filled with heartbreak and challenges, but persist and remember that you're not alone in this path. 💛 Tali's Fund's website offers an extensive database of family support resources. If you or someone you know could benefit from these resources, please visit or share our extended Resource section. October is World Mental Health Month, a time to recognize the importance of mental well-being, especially for those impacted by neurological conditions and spinal cord injuries. Individuals with spinal cord injuries are at a significantly higher risk of experiencing mental health challenges, such as depression and anxiety, due to the physical, emotional, and social impacts of their condition. Studies show that up to 30-40% of people with spinal cord injuries face mental health issues, highlighting the importance of holistic approaches that address both mental well-being and physical rehabilitation in recovery programs. At Conquer Paralysis Now, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with paralysis through cutting-edge research and transformative recovery programs—but we need your support to continue this vital work. ❤️ Your donation today can help change lives and foster hope.
