Idalia has been officially upgraded to a hurricane, per the latest information from the National Hurricane Center. Here are three things you need to know: 1. Life-Threatening Storm Surge Florida Gulf Coast areas, especially Tampa Bay and the Big Bend region, are at high risk. Inundation of 8-12 feet above ground level is anticipated between Chassahowitzka and Aucilla River. 2. Hurricane Conditions Imminent As Idalia's core moves onshore, strong winds are expected to surge inland, especially over northern Florida close to Idalia's track. 3. Heavy Rainfall Expected The west coast of Florida, the Florida Panhandle, and southern Georgia will see significant rainfall, potentially leading to localized flash and urban flooding. As of 10:00 PM CDT, Tropical Storm Beryl is located near latitude 27.6 North and longitude 95.6 West, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. The storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall on the middle Texas coast early Monday morning. Beryl is currently moving north-northwest at 10 mph and is forecast to turn northward overnight. After landfall, the storm is expected to turn northeastward and move inland over eastern Texas and Arkansas. Heavy rainfall of 5 to 10 inches with localized amounts of 15 inches is expected across portions of the middle and upper Texas Gulf Coast and eastern Texas through Monday night.
