When we are working on climate resilient settlement plan of one Deh of Sindh, Pakistan, i would like to remind ourselves with this 20 Pakistani Rupeees bill that Pakistan have history of 5000 years old amazing and better planned settlements like Mohenjodaro🇵🇰. We have to learn and unlearn to contribute to vision of resilient Sindh. The plan that Sindh People's Housing For Flood Affectees and #shrrp @Sindh housing recovery and reconstruction platform with technical support of Catholic Relief Services UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) AZ NavTeq are launching will be first of its kind using technology and commuity level planning for recovery settlement approach integrating DRR, preparedness and Climate action. #settlements #settlementapproach #recovery #recoveryispossible #housing #learnfromhistory #history Sindh Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (SHRRP)

"This model can be used as a solution in the global market. You'll be surprised to know that in Lebanon, when they established a public-private partnership, they followed our model," says Khalid Mehmood Shaikh, CEO of Sindh People's Housing For Flood Affectees on the replicability of SPHF's model. He emphasizes that this approach not only addresses immediate needs but also provides a scalable framework for recovery in post-conflict and disaster-stricken areas. - #replicability #globalmodel #disasterrelief #innovation #recovery #SPHF #globalimpact #housing #scalablesolutions #VCastOnline

Sindh's 2022 floods left scars, but also ignited a vision. Geospatial tech, from flood mapping to 3D resilience planning, is guiding the province's rise from the ashes. This data-driven approach not only strengthens infrastructure and relocates vulnerable communities, but aligns with UN SDGs like sustainable cities and climate action. By embracing this innovation, Sindh is building a future where communities stand tall against future storms, a beacon of hope for a resilient world. Credit goes Sindh Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (SHRRP) and Sindh People's Housing For Flood Affectees for taking necessary measures to rebuild Sindh for a better tomorrow.

USAID Assistant to the Administrator, Bureau for Resilience, Environment and Food Security; Deputy Coordinator for Development, Feed the Future; USAID Global Food Crisis Coordinator
Here is a classic "ounce of prevention" story from USAID Pakistan that explains why preparing for disaster is better than responding to it : During the 2022 Pakistan floods, 19,000 schools across the country were destroyed -- but the 79 USAID-constructed schools, built to meet international building codes and standards to last 50 years -- all survived and many of them served as community recovery centers. On average, every $1 invested in climate adaptation and preparedness can yield between $2 and $10 in savings down the road. Our next #ImpactLeads, Muhammad Aizaz Ahmad, has identified the urgent need for safety training in flood-prone #Charsadda, where local youth and social activists are often the first responders to disasters. Despite their courageous efforts, they lack the formal training necessary to protect themselves and their communities during emergencies, especially during floods. The #REACT #Initiative (Resilience Enhancement and Advanced Community Training), led by Aizaz, aims to cover this gap by equipping these local heroes with generic skills in flood preparedness, health safety, and culturally sensitive protection strategies. We believe this initiative is a significant step toward building a resilient and informed community in Charsadda. Let's support this impactful concept note and work together to create a safer future for everyone affected by floods in this region! Communications Officer & the National Spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan
Hours after the floods that struck #Afghanistan earlier last month, #WFP started to respond to the needs of affected communities. Until end of last week, we have been able to reach more than 70,000 people in 14 provinces via our area offices with #food assistance. Nearly three quarters of these people were supported in #Ghor, #Baghlan and #Faryab which are also the provinces with some of the highest damages. This immediate assistance is crucial for these families, but what they really need is the support to #rebuild their lives. The affected villages need longer-term investments that protect homes and fields to prepare them to face the worsening #ClimateCrisis. In #Baghlan, a #WFP-supported protection wall protected 670 #families and 400 acres of agricultural #land.

Concern Worldwide is moving into the second phase of its emergency response to the Eastern Bangladesh floods. The focus is on six priority sub-districts—Kabirhat, Begumganj, Sonaimuri, Noakhali Sadar (Noakhali), and Fulgazi, Parshuram (Feni). This phase prioritizes health and nutrition interventions, including the establishment of IYCF corners, support for SAM treatment, and the deployment of health personnel and volunteers. Efforts to secure additional funding are ongoing to ensure the continuity of this vital response. In the initial phase, Concern, in partnership with SAJIDA Foundation, provided support to 30,000 flood-affected populations (6,000 families) across two sub-districts in Noakhali, delivering critical assistance within the first week of the disaster. Concern remains unwavering in its commitment to delivering rapid and effective humanitarian aid, ensuring that assistance reaches those in need, even in areas where it previously had no operational presence. #EmergencyResponse #ConcernWorldWide #ConcernEmergency #Flood #EasternBangladesh #Commitment https://lnkd.in/g2daZkjA
