The need for evidence-based nursing home palliative care services is essential to enhance the quality of life for both residents and their families. Nonetheless, little is known about the effective way to achieve this goal. To help achieve this goal, our PI @joancarpenter led a systematic review to examine the characteristics and effectiveness of nursing home interventions that incorporated multiple palliative care domains. Most interesting takeaways from the report: ✅ 46% of SNF in the survey reported a net loss in 2019 ✅ mean net margin in the sample decreased from 9% to less than 1% when "disallowed expenses" and "depreciation expense" (a bookeeping entry) were included ✅ authors suggest "hidden profits" can be found with more transparency in accounting and reporting This is a very interesting report!
