Community Service & Volunteering! Is it really unpaid? In the world today, money is almost regarded as the highest form of value you can get from doing a job or fulfilling a task. But money is usually the least value we get from completing a job, because money is meant to be exchanged for other things with greater worth and value. For me, I believe the most value we get from doing a job, task or project is the knowledge we get, the relationships we build and the memories that lingers. As I continue my work with Nixerlex Youth Development Foundation, I realize more fully my own potentials and the joy I get from such service is enough value that money can’t offer. So perhaps the next time you have an opportunity to volunteer, serve others or just maybe an unpaid internship opportunity, I suggest you look forward to the intangible values that are worth more than money. #NYDF #NixerlexYouthDevelopmentFoundation #Volunteering #CommunityService

With summer on the horizon, most schools are about to end for the year. However, that shouldn’t mean that students should stop experiencing new things and enrich their experience. Especially if you plan to apply for a 4 year university, to boost your chances of acceptance you should try taking part in extracurricular opportunities during your summer break. Today, we’d like to share a few examples of these activities you could take part in during summer break. -Volunteering at an Old Age Home: From personal experience, this is a very enjoyable way to spend any free time you have. If you can find memory care centers or old age homes in your area, the residents of these places tend to really enjoy spending time with younger people that they don’t see very often. You can also engage in many activities including little games and arts and crafts which can be fun for you too! -Internships: It’s not easy to find a lot of internships, especially on short notice, however, with a little research there are so many open opportunities you are bound to find some in your area. We recommend using LinkedIn or even just google to search up any potential opportunities while you have time during the summer. -Online courses: Taking online courses or workshops can help students expand their knowledge and skills in various areas. Online courses are self-paced and are more affordable than classroom based courses. They help show students initiative and commitment towards lifelong learning. -Instilt Educate: Of course we had to save the best for last, Instilt is an amazing way to spend your time over the summer. You can volunteer remotely and build the times you have to do work around your schedule. You can also be a part of a fantastic organization of people that are making a difference when it comes to global education. #CommunityService #Fundraising #Volunteering #NGO #SocialGood #Sustainability #ImpactInvesting #Donations #Causes #GiveBack #SupportNonprofits #NonprofitSector #Advocacy #VolunteerWork #SummerVolunteer #VolunteerOpportunities #MakeADifference #CollegeResume #CareerAdvice #ResumeTips #ProfessionalDevelopment #ResumeWriting #CareerDevelopment #StudentLife #CollegeTips #InterviewTips #JobHunting #CareerSkills #Employability #ResumeAdvice #CareerPreparation #JobMarket #CareerGuidance #ResumeHelp

It has always been a valuable experience for me to work towards the development of society. Recently, I had the privilege of working with Jankalyan Multipurpose Education Society as a Business Development Intern. During my time with this incredible NGO, I had the opportunity to promote various activities and initiatives aimed at making a positive impact on the community. This experience was truly valuable and has enriched my professional journey in many ways. Here are some key highlights from my internship: 1)Learned the intricacies of business 2)development in the non-profit sector. Engaged in strategic planning and implementation of outreach programs. 3)Collaborated with a dedicated team passionate about driving social change. 4)Enhanced my skills in project management, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement. Working with JKMES Trust has not only broadened my understanding of the non-profit sector but also taught me the importance of community involvement and sustainable development. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause and for the invaluable experience gained during this journey. Looking forward to applying these learnings in future endeavors and continuing to support impactful initiatives. #NGO #BusinessDevelopment #Internship #SocialImpact #CommunityDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #SustainableDevelopment #NonProfit #LearningExperience

It's disappointing how people see a group that clearly says voluntary participation, i.e zero pay, you join and then proceed to guilt tripping or smooth talking the group into getting paid. Volunteering involves using your 3Ts - Time, Talent and Treasure, if you can't afford it at the time, please, DO NOT VOLUNTEER, you will only frustrate others. Because they will keep begging you to do what you had promised. NOTE: Volunteering is not the Same as Internship Please. #volunteeropportunity #volunteering #volunteeringNOTinternship

Beyond the Textbook: How Volunteering Boosted My Skillset (and Maybe Yours Too!) Before graduating we all want to hit the ground running. But how can we bridge the gap between theory and practice? Here's a valuable tip: #volunteer ! While my university's internship program provided a strong foundation, I felt a desire to just do more of it. That's when I volunteered at a local kindergarten. Here, I discovered the power of initiative. Many daycare centers, due to budget limitations, struggle to offer language programs. Instead of waiting for the "perfect" opportunity, I approached the director and offered my skills. Together, we had lots of fun and learned a few words. This experience was more than just giving back; it was a masterclass in resourcefulness and adaptability. Volunteering allowed me to work on my communication skills while engaging young learners. It also challenged me to think outside the box and develop creative solutions within budget constraints. These are valuable assets for any career path! Have you discovered the benefits of volunteering in your field? The UK's #creative industries face a diversity gap, with only 13% of creatives from BAME backgrounds and 11% disabled, highlighting an urgent need for action. Linda Nguyen suggests collaborative efforts with #charities and #internships to empower the next #generation without pandering, breaking barriers by championing #scholarships, internships, and inclusive spaces for underrepresented groups.
