Key objectives include promoting the health of Indigenous and Tribal communities, addressing prevalent diseases in the region, enhancing women’s health, supporting the well-being of newborns, children, and adolescents, exploring effective health financing models, showcasing advancements in medical technologies, fostering health innovations, understanding the social factors influencing health, evaluating the effectiveness of health systems, promoting mental wellbeing, addressing cultural health challenges, and combating addiction and substance abuse. By providing a platform for discussions and idea sharing, the conference aims to generate impactful innovations that can positively influence health outcomes worldwide. Had the opportunity to be part of the National Conclave for Menstrual Health 2023, by Uninhibited and MHAi. In the context of the National Menstrual Hygiene Policy (Draft, 2023) the two days of deliberation brought out perspectives on varying issues and from across stakeholder groups. For me, some of the key highlights: The conclave provided space to present multiple, varying perspectives, space to debate and disagree respectfully! This is something often lost..and cudos to the facilitation teams for this. Menstrual health remains the start and end point of most conversations on SRHR ..atleast those that we have with young people. We still have a long way to go in understanding ‘menstrual health’ beyond hygiene- access to menstrual products (read pads), WASH facilities. How are menstruator’ bodies, their wellbeing, affected? How and why do our cycles change over time, with age? How does contraception impact our menstrual cycle? What do we know about menopause? It was heartening to hear views on mental health in the context of menstrual health. When we talk about SBCC what are those 2-3 key messages we are communicating and to whom? Is it to break silence, on different products, on disposal? Finally, the need for evidence across the spectrum..but importantly to ‘listen’ to the voices of mestruators when gathering and processing this evidence..their needs and choices!

[ Global oral health status report ~ Towards universal health coverage for oral health by 2030 ] It is a day to celebrate the efforts made by the stakeholders to improve oral health globally, regionally, and at the country level. It is also a day reinforce our commitment to accelerate the implementation of Global Oral Health Action Plan towards Universal Health Coverage (#UHC). Untreated oral diseases affect almost half of the world’s population. Global case numbers have increased by 1 billion over the last 30 years – a clear indication that many people do not have access to appropriate oral health care, which includes prevention, risk protection and restorative and rehabilitative services. The consequences of untreated oral diseases – including physical symptoms, functional limitations and detrimental impacts on emotional, mental and social well-being – are severe and debilitating. For those able to obtain treatment, the costs are often high and can lead to significant economic burden. Private initiatives like this should be supported by Government. A model can be built around this to provide healthcare, education & other life enhancing services in interior rural India where people are still deprived of basic amenities. Inclusive growth can catapult India to next level.
