Last week, we announced that a significant portion of Prestige’s operations is transitioning to PACS, whose mission-driven approach will continue to build on the strong foundation we’ve created. Now as we look to Prestige’s next chapters, we are incredibly grateful for the contributions of every single team member, past and present, who has joined us in serving patients and families with high-quality, compassionate care over the past 40 years. To our team who has consistently gone above and beyond: Prestige’s achievements and growth over these past many years are a direct result of your hard work, compassion, and loyalty. Your commitment to excellence and dedication to our culture of values-based care has made a difference in the lives of those we serve. We share our deepest heartfelt appreciation for you. Prestige began because our founders were called to provide quality care from compassionate hearts, and today that legacy lives on. We’re looking forward to continuing the tradition of providing best-in-class care as we embark on this next iteration of Prestige Care. Here’s to many more years of success in caring for our patients and residents, with Prestige’s industry-leading care.

The Unspoken Truth About the Future of Primary Care: Insights from the Front Lines In the heart of primary care, three simple yet profound questions illuminate the profound challenges and considerations within our profession: 1- Do you work in primary care? 2- What do you do? 3- Would you want your child to follow in your footsteps? The response to the last question, more often than not, has been a heartfelt “Absolutely Not!” This sentiment, shared widely among my peers, is not just a reflection of personal discontent but a stark indicator of the systemic and moral challenges that pervade our field. It's a reflection of the impossible frameworks and situations we frequently find ourselves navigating—a testament to the need for profound systemic change. As we delve deeper into the fabric of primary care, it becomes increasingly clear that the divide between the on-ground realities of our work and the perspectives often held by those outside of direct patient care is not just wide but growing. This gap underscores the complexity of our roles and the critical need to reevaluate how primary care is structured, supported, and perceived at every level. The reluctance of providers to envision a future for their children within this field is more than a personal decision; it's a clarion call to address the untenable conditions and impossible expectations placed upon us. It underscores the urgency of pushing back against the frameworks that limit our ability to provide compassionate, effective care and that contribute to burnout and moral injury. This moment calls for a collective awakening—to recognize the unsustainable demands placed on primary care providers and to commit to actionable change. It's an opportunity to transform our healthcare system into one that truly supports its providers, enabling them to do their best work without sacrificing their well-being or the well-being of their patients. We must rally together—providers, policymakers, patients, and the public—to challenge the status quo and to create a primary care environment that nurtures rather than drains, that supports rather than stifles. This involves rethinking workload expectations, administrative burdens, and the very foundations of how care is delivered and valued. As we stand at this crossroads, let's choose the path of sustainability, support, and respect for those who have dedicated their lives to caring for others. The future of primary care, and indeed the health of our communities, hinges on our ability to enact meaningful change. Let's work together to ensure that the question of whether one would want their child to enter primary care is met with hope and enthusiasm, rather than hesitation and concern.

An administrative judge in North Carolina has upheld the decision to grant Altamonte Springs' AdventHealth a certificate of need (CON) to construct a hospital with a minimum of 67 beds in Buncombe County. Mission Health, based in Asheville and part of HCA Healthcare, contested this decision, leading to a year-long trial. This outcome is significant for AdventHealth, aiming to counter HCA's expansion in Western North Carolina. AdventHealth has challenged Mission Health's recent CON applications for standalone emergency departments in the state. Brandon Nudd, FACHE, AdventHealth Hendersonville's president and CEO, expressed gratitude for the decision, emphasizing the hospital's positive impact on healthcare in Buncombe, Graham, Madison, and Yancey Counties. AdventHealth plans to establish the hospital in Weaverville, having acquired 30 acres of land, intending to expand to 93 beds. However, HCA expressed disappointment, stating concerns about patient transportation for advanced care when Mission Hospital's specialized beds are full. Mission Health reaffirmed its commitment to delivering advanced healthcare tailored to the region's needs. Thank you Mr. Nudd for your commitment to serve communities! We extend our offering in implementing Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) processes by providing comprehensive training on RCM software, offering guidance on workflow optimization, conducting regular audits for compliance, and staying updated on industry regulations to ensure smooth revenue flow and efficient financial operations. A Kissito Healthcare Success Story Update! Brad Miller was admitted to the Brian Center of Fincastle on March 21, 2022. He was admitted to the center with paralysis leading to having a breathing tube due to chronic respiratory failure. He was on a ventilator, PEG feeding tube and could only nod “yes” or “no.” Miller required total dependence to perform all aspects of mobility and equipment to transfer into and out of bed. After eight months of vigorous therapy and determination, he progressed to being independent enough to return home on November 21, 2022. Awaiting him was his three fur babies, Roxi, Ruby, and Desmond. He had many supporters during his journey. From his family to the Brain Center Fincastle employees who motivated and continued to encourage what he once thought was impossible. “My outlook on life has changed and I now wake up every day finding joy. I thought my life was over, but this is the happiest I’ve ever been. I am extremely grateful to the staff for the continuous encouragement and love I received while at the Brian Center as well as afterwards,” Miller said. His words of encouragement to someone who is in his shoes are “don’t give up” and “fight as hard as you can.” With his hard work and dedication, Miller has returned to his prior level of function he now completes bathing, cooking, toileting, walking and performing stairs without any assisted device. He has returned to his normal everyday activities including church, appointments, dinner out with friends and family, and his weekly group meetings. Driving is his next goal to meet in 2024, and he is excited to reach this goal in thanks in part to the team at the Brian Center Fincastle. Congratulation Brad!
