National Down Syndrome Awareness Month is an intentional time to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and leverage your spheres of influence to spread awareness. Shauna Amick, M.Ed., our Director of Direct Response and Radio Marketing, is doing just that! Her daughter Sarah has Down syndrome and recently Shauna shared helpful insights on how to include individuals with Down syndrome in our communities. 🌟 Be a Voice: Share messages about National Down Syndrome Awareness Month on your social media. Ensure that individuals with Down syndrome are included in your churches, clubs, and social groups. 🤝 Be a Friend: Reach out to children and adults with Down syndrome in your neighborhood, at the store, or in your church. 🌼 Be an Example: As the seasons change, be intentional about advocating for the full inclusion of all individuals. Consider volunteering as a buddy with a local school or organization. These simple actions can uplift those with Down syndrome and their families, making a positive impact not just in October, but throughout the entire year. Read more from Shauna below! #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth #DownSyndrome #Awareness #Inclusion
As we round out National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, I'm delighted that The Acorn has included Sarah's story in their online and print publications. Change is in the air. I can feel it! https://lnkd.in/gdTVR4ZN joniandfriends.org
