Morale is key to any organization.
Although serving on the aircraft carrier has been a high-intensity assignment, 60 Minutes saw that morale has stayed high on board. According to Hill, that is by design. The philosophy aboard the Eisenhower is based on a quote from its namesake: "Morale is the single greatest factor in successful war." MORE ⬇️

The United States Marine Corps has reopened a second World War II-era airfield, Camp Davis in North Carolina, as part of a $28 million renovation effort. This follows the earlier recertification of an airfield on the Pacific island of Peleliu. Both locations are crucial for enhancing the Marines' aviation capabilities, supporting their Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations mission, which emphasizes the deployment of small units across vast distances with robust air support. Key Details: - Camp Davis Renovation: The 18-month project included resurfacing the runway with layers of rock, gravel, and asphalt, and installing concrete pads to withstand high-intensity operations. The airfield now features a 4,525-foot airstrip and is designed to accommodate various Marine aircraft, from the KC-130 Hercules to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. - Strategic Importance: The Peleliu airstrip positions Marine aircraft within 1,000 miles of Manila, Philippines, enhancing operational reach in the Pacific. Camp Davis will serve as a multipurpose landing field, facilitating training and operations across the region. - Historical Context: Originally built as an Army installation in 1941 for anti-aircraft training, Camp Davis has transitioned to support modern Marine aviation needs. This initiative reflects the Marines' commitment to adapting and preparing for future combat scenarios by leveraging historical infrastructure. #MarineCorps #Aviation #MilitaryOperations #WWII #CampDavis #Peleliu #StrategicReadiness #ExpeditionaryOperations #DefenseNews

I’m not sure if this is getting enough attention. BuildSubmarines.com is sponsoring NASCAR drivers Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher for a reason. The Navy and the nation need help on many levels. Please consider volunteering to serve in some fashion. There are many ways to serve your country. First and foremost is the Armed Services. All of them are a great way to serve your country and have great opportunities. I of course am pro-Navy. If active duty isn’t you (or your child / grandchild’s) thing there are still many ways to serve. Our country needs Mariners. These are the civilians that operate the ship bringing fuel and supplies to our fleet. They survey and make maps; they listen for submarines. If going to sea isn’t your thing, well we have buildsubmarines.com exists for a reason. Every shipyard in the United States needs trades, engineers, contract managers and many other positions to help build ships. Finally, it takes thousands of vendors to make parts for our ships. Building turbines at GE, building switchgear at Point 8 power or similar is still serving. Furthermore, these are not mutually exclusive. After serving active duty, one is much more prepared to help with building the fleet. Please consider these careers to help keep our armed forces strong! Buildsubmarines.com USA jobs - NAVSEA

The US Navy is taking proactive measures to address readiness concerns and improve overall amphibious ship readiness. Adm. Lisa Franchetti has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the maintenance and readiness issues of amphibious ships, following the prolonged deployment delay of the USS Boxer. Led by three-star admirals, the investigation will focus on identifying challenges and lessons learned, with initial recommendations expected in May. The USS Boxer experienced delays and mechanical issues due, in part, to poor leadership. Adm. Franchetti highlighted the Navy's proactive approach in containing delays and mentioned potential delays with the USS Wasp. This investigation signifies the Navy's commitment to ensuring ship readiness and improvement efforts. #USNavy #AmphibiousShips #MarineCorps #ShipReadiness #DeepDive #Maintenance #ReadinessIssues #LessonsLearned #USSBoxer #Leadership #Recommendations #AdmLisaFranchetti #ProactiveApproach #USSWasp #NavyReadiness #ImprovementEfforts

Congratulations Skipper, Fair winds and following seas. Welcome aboard Skipper! Bob F, RRL Program Manager (left) and Rei, COO of Rigid Tactical (right) Bob and Rei attended the Change of Command at Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center in Panama City Beach, Florida. This place forges Divers from the raw material of Navy sailors and other service branch members. Divers conduct their difficult tasks in one of mother nature’s most dangerous and unforgiving environments. Rei: I get asked what makes Divers different? A: Suppress the natural will to live to accomplish a task to save your life. NDSTC is the first time I was asked to suppress the natural will to live to accomplish a task. Other examples include parachuting and, of course, combat. During pool week, the surface, visible from the bottom of the pool, promises the ultimate safety (air). Instructors impose a series of increasingly complex problems on the students, who are asked to perform a series of tasks under imposed stress. It would be easy to just go to the surface and save your own life. Make it all go away. But you don’t. You acknowledge and clear the fear, assess the problem, fix the problem, and carry on. “The change of command ceremony is not prescribed specifically by U.S. Navy regulations, but rather is a long-standing Naval tradition.” #rigidtacitcal #diving #navy

This is a critical shortfall for success of the Marine Corps. We are a Naval Amphibious force. All these Retired Generals pitching about the MC's Force2030, need to put their extensively power, stars, and political and business pull on the Navy and the American ship building capabilities. The MC can change all it wants in concept, and fighting techniques, but without ships i.e., the Fleet, we are dead in the water. We need to re think what is needed for "the Fleet" we need more NSS, LPVs, small subs or craft, and NS Av (aviation) to move people and stuff, into any AOR conflict zone... permissive to denied A2AD AORs, and from OTH. We need a Ships "Iron Dome," or "cloak of invisibility" if we expect to fight and win. My opinion only. M2 https://lnkd.in/e6cYtmwa https://lnkd.in/eruye3Yi

To see this happen, an individual needs to develop self-efficacy, which are the set of beliefs that enhance an individual’s capacity to induce positive performance outcomes. ♠️ #dieliving

UK Set To Kick Off Industry Engagement For Commando Insertion Craft The UK Ministry of Defence is planning to brief industry in early June on its plans to acquire a next-generation Commando Insertion Craft (CIC) to replace the Royal Marines’ current Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) MK 5. Addressing the Defence Leaders Combined Naval Event (CNE) 2024 in Farnborough on 22 May, Captain Nick Unwin, Commando Force programme director, said a CIC industry day was scheduled to take place on 4 June to outline the plan for programme delivery, and provide new clarity on requirements. The Commando Force programme is designed to transform UK amphibious forces into a more agile and lethal capability optimised for persistent forward deployment in a range of combat and non-combat roles. Key to this is a recapitalisation programme intended to bring new equipment and shipping into service in support of littoral strike operations. As part of this investment plan, the CIC programme is intended to deliver a new high-speed, low-signature craft that can deliver Royal Marine Commando teams and their equipment from ships positioned some distance offshore. The MoD’s procurement pipeline document last year indicated a requirement for around 20 CIC craft, with a budget of just over £190 million earmarked to cover design, manufacture, and support. Top-level CIC requirements previously promulgated by the MoD call for a medium-lift craft that can carry a strike team and a small vehicle to the shore from a stand-off range (circa 150 nautical miles) at high speed (25+ knots) with a low probability of detection. One major design consideration is the ability to transport marines in an environment where they land on shore ‘fit to fight’. #shipbuilding #ISeaSMEs National Shipbuilding Office #defence Royal Navy #smes https://lnkd.in/edu3yfPn

Written post by David goggins Naval Special Warfare Command - Navy SEAL & SWCC Teams Naval Special Warfare Center repost: Never Own a Bell! Winning and losing. I talk about it all the time. When I speak to people I rarely mention the times I have won. Truth be told, I don’t talk about winning because it owns very little space in my head and yet the memories of the many times I have lost or failed at something are clear as can be. It is good to set your standards so high that you have to work your entire life to achieve the mark. Winning has never caused someone to lose sleep. Those who quit in Navy SEAL training walk over to a bell and ring it three times. Then they put their helmet on the ground. If a bell was by my bed, I would ring it every single morning. That is why I don’t own a bell. If your max for push-ups is 100 reps, those last 20 reps fucking suck bad. There is very little growth in the first 80 reps, the growth comes in the last 20 reps when all you want to do is put your knees on the ground and stop. What keeps you going when all you want to do is stop?! I can’t speak for everybody but what keeps me going is knowing the feeling I will have if I put my knees down before I get to 100. Losing and failing are big parts of life. Let it haunt you to be better. Stop using it as a crutch to give up! Some of the best moments in my life are when I have failed over and over again and then finally win/succeed. The thing about winning is once you go to bed after the big win, the win is already forgotten. The world moves too fast to celebrate you longer than that. Being great today doesn’t make it permanent. Don’t relish yesterday’s win for too long. You have to earn greatness every single day of your life!
