Well worth listening to, IMO energy security for UK is the most pressing issue, we are currently importing between 10 and 20% of our electricity demand, and importing gas. We have the resources and capability to produce all our own energy needs today and transition to zero carbon in future. we need politicians and civil servants to listen to Jenny Stanning, and OEUK LIMITED and urgently act.

Looking forward to moderating a discussion on energy system modeling and energy security today at #NCEW23! Modeling is a crucial tool for investigating the tradeoffs inherent to different decarbonization strategies and helping guide clean energy policy and investments that are diversified and robust to uncertainty. We'll dig into some new results from Evolved Energy Research on energy security and U.S. energy export implications of different pathways to net zero.

⚡ Funding update for energy communities, energy cooperatives as well as the broader proximity and social economy ecosystem ⚡ The European Commission launched an Open Call for the Citizen Energy Advisory Hub!   Support will be provided to citizens and their trusted intermediaries to develop energy related activities and projects. Thanks CCS Europe for inviting me as a panel speaker on 29 May 2024 on the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Event ‘Harnessing EU and National incentives for CCS success in Europe’ with as guest speaker Maria Velkova (Deputy Head of Unit of DG CLIMA/EC) and as moderator Katrina Williams (Senior Advisor at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs). Other panelists were Pierre Roubaud (STEP Task Force Clean Tech Stream/EC), Morten Skovgaard Olsen (Danish Energy Agency), Liv Rathe (Hydro) and Andy Spencer (Cemex). There was a lively discussion emphasizing the need for streamlining EU and national funding opportunities, an integrated approach with key stakeholders, regulatory certainty, facilitating permitting processes, including carbon removal under the EU ETS and focusing on innovative CCS technologies that are cost-effective to strengthen the competitiveness of the private sector in the EU.
