Pride Wide: Filling the storytelling gap for LGBTQIA+ equality Pride Wide is a new kind of global non-profit organization, working towards a future of freedom, equality, and visibility for LGBTQIA+ people around the world. What sets us apart? Our focus is on storytelling and engagement. Many LGBTQIA+ changemakers, while effective in policy and legal battles, lack the communication skills to win hearts and minds. This creates an opening for negative narratives to dominate the news media and social platforms. Pride Wide's solution: Compelling stories: We will counter negative narratives by crafting powerful and relatable stories about the LGBTQIA+ community. Global collaboration: Led by a global board, we bring together experts in media, business, charities, and community leadership from around the world. Experienced leadership: Our founders have a proven track record in creating engaging and impactful LGBTQIA+ content through their previous work running the much-missed global website, Gay Star News. How you can get involved: If you'd like to learn more about Pride Wide or contribute to our mission, reach out to us at pridewide@pridewide.org. #LGBTQIA #Equality #Storytelling #PrideWide #NonProfit Scott Nunn Tris Reid-Smith

Annual Reminder: June isn’t the time of year to “help lift the LGBT community” by asking LGBT-owned and operated businesses, especially micro-businesses, to work for you for free or at a discount, especially if yours is a Fortune 500 company, a publisher with an annual revenue over $2BB, an internationally recognized LGBT television program or even a non-profit with an annual revenue over, say, $40MM backed by hundreds of Fortune 500 companies. If you genuinely want to show your support by using LGBT small and micro businesses, whether yours is a corporation or non-profit, and you want to help close the wage gap, pay LGBT entrepreneurs what they're worth.

The second annual LGBTQ+ Index, from Indiana University School of Education - Indianapolis is out. Some Key Takeaways: 🔹 LGBTQ+ organizations saw a 76% increase in assets from 2019-2021, concentrated in the largest organizations. 🔹 Charitable giving to #LGBTQ+ organizations has more than doubled over the past decade. Still, less than $1 out of $500 donated goes to support their efforts. 🔹 Growth varied across different types of LGBTQ+ organizations. 🔸 LGBTQ+ public-society benefit (such as grant-making organizations), education, and elders and aging organizations saw remarkable growth. 🔸 LGBTQ+ #HIV/AIDS organizations saw the lowest growth. 🔹 Diverging growth trends have led to an expanding community of LGBTQ+ organizations focused on a broader range of issues than a decade ago. This information is a valuable benchmark for nonprofit organizations within the sector. But, also good for development officers and nonprofit leaders to align their efforts. And, donors and funders to identify gaps in existing resources and get clear on the unique needs of LGBTQ+ organizations. #diversity #fundraising #nonprofits #philanthropy #foundations #research

Helping women and LGBTQ+ founders and organisations look good while being inclusive and accessible | Founder @ Studio Lutalica | Fractional Creative Director | British Creative Businesswoman of the Year 2023-24
I’m feeling very proud, yet a little sad. We put our heart and soul into this campaign, and although we understand there have been really big emergencies in the past month to say the least, I was (maybe naively?) hoping for something more. The response to the campaign has been absolutely overwhelming, with so many people sharing, commenting, vouching for us and supporting our mission. I still can’t believe how much we managed to build in so little time with Studio Lutalica, and I’m so incredibly proud of the amazing connections we made along the way. But I’m passionate and ambitious so nothing is ever enough 🥲 and I really want to start helping more organisations, especially the ones that don’t have the budget to spend to reach their audiences in a more accessible way. And what do we need to do more? You guessed it - money 💰 It’s been really hard to prove the impact of our work, but to put it as simple as possible: let’s say we work with an LGBTQ+ homelessness charity. We can’t take credit for the brilliance of the services they offer, of course, but if we build a brand that is credible, they can get more donations to help more people. If we build an accessible website, we can make a difference for service users being able to find the organisation and get support, and potentially even get a bed for the night in case of emergency. As I said many times, we will implement a sustainable structure for pro bono services. But with your help, we can start much sooner. It’s not too late. There are two days left to support our crowdfunding campaign. If you have anything to spare, please donate here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekREhQ3U #PurposeOverProfit #DesignForChange #Crowdfunding #DonateNow #LGBTQDesign #FeministDesign #NonProfit #Pride
🌟It’s the Last Weekend! 🌟 We’re so close to the finish line of our first crowdfunding campaign - if you haven’t yet, please consider donating today. Studio Lutalica is raising funds to build the infrastructure needed to offer pro bono design services to organisations advocating for equality and justice for women and LGBTQ+ communities. Your donation will help us create a sustainable framework so we can amplify these vital voices and their impact. Donate today and help us design brighter futures 👉https://lnkd.in/epa9zY5g #PurposeOverProfit #DesignForChange #LGBTQ #WomenEmpowerment #SocialJustice #Crowdfunding

Did you know that with every event ticket you purchase from Sesh Coworking the proceeds go directly supporting local non-profits, community organizations and businesses for women, communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community through providing them space??? Why do these organizations need complimentary or discounted space? Because often times the funding they receive from grants or the government is restricted to hiring, wages, or equipment. Not very often does it provide funding for space to hold board meetings, community gatherings, workshops or volunteer events. https://lnkd.in/g2_uuBtU

Global Communications Executive | Leading Global Strategies & Media Relations | Expert in High-Stakes PR & Crisis Management
As we celebrate Pride Month, it's an ideal time to reflect on how we can genuinely support our LGBTQIA+ employees. Drawing from my 25 years of experience navigating the corporate world as a queer leader, I've compiled list of practical tips to help create a more inclusive and supportive workplace. It's important to approach this with sensitivity, avoiding assumptions about individuals' orientations and respecting their privacy. Here are five actionable ideas to get you started: -> Launch an LGBTQIA+ Support Group: Establish a support group that welcomes all LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals and non-LGBTQIA+ allies. This provides a safe and supportive space for everyone in the organization. -> Inclusive Language in Policies and Materials: Ensure your company’s non-discrimination policies and all internal and external materials, such as job postings, town hall presentations, and standard documents, include clear, LGBTQIA+ inclusive language. This demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusivity. -> Strategic Donations to LGBTQIA+ Charities: Make impactful contributions to LGBTQIA+ support groups or charities at times other than June to avoid perceptions of performative allyship. Showing consistent support throughout the year is more meaningful. -> June as the Beginning of LGBTQIA+ Initiatives: Use Pride Month as a kickoff point for your annual LGBTQIA+ initiatives. Have the executive team, including LGBTQIA+ support group members, assess current inclusivity efforts and develop a comprehensive action plan for the year ahead. -> Due Diligence with Charitable Donations: Thoroughly research charities before making donations. Organizations like the Human Rights Campaign can provide valuable insights. Be cautious of well-known charities that may have histories of discrimination despite their reputation. By implementing these initiatives, you can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for your LGBTQIA+ employees. Demonstrating acceptance and commitment to diversity, not just during Pride Month but throughout the entire year, will help foster a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈 #Pride #LGBTQIA #inclusivity

"Over the decade 2012-2021, charitable giving to #LGBTQ+ organizations more than doubled...However, this still amounts to less than $1 out of every $500 donated going to support LGBTQ+ organizations." Interesting report here on trends over the last decade-plus, and a reminder that there is still much to do in advancing equity in #philanthropy.
