In Prince George's County, we are making great strides in climate resilience! We are moving closer to reaching our Climate Action Plan's carbon emissions goal of 50% reduction by 2030, compared to our 2005 levels. Informed by our Climate Action Implementation Task Force, we are ambitiously tackling climate change in our County. #PGCHealthy County Executive Angela Alsobrooks launched our Climate Action Implementation Task Force back in 2022, and they recently delivered on our Climate Action Implementation Strategies Report which details recommendations that can help us progress towards being a more climate resilient County. Thank you to our task force members for their commitment, as we are more than grateful for their hard work on this report! Beautification has been one of our Proud Priorities from the beginning of the Alsobrooks Administration, and we're #PrinceGeorgesProud to have invested tens of millions of dollars into initiatives and programs across the government to improve the health of our environment and the beauty of our County. The impact that these initiatives and programs have had on our community is a promising demonstration of their effectiveness. "The bottom line: Climate change isn’t waiting for better budget scenarios. A climate bond this year will directly and immediately advance our state’s readiness and resilience. It removes the annual funding uncertainty that is downright dangerous. This investment will more than pay for itself by reducing the impacts and losses of future climate-driven events." Save The Bay firmly supports a climate bond on this year's ballot. We need Governor Newsom to endorse the climate bond proposals for consistent and prioritised funding for climate resilience projects. https://lnkd.in/dc_E-PSQ Save the Redwoods League TOGETHER Bay Area Coalition for Clean Air

While the Biden-Harris Administration has made unprecedented progress in addressing climate change, there is much more work to be done. To help the next administration foster a more equitable and sustainable future for millions of people, we’ve released "Protecting Coastal Communities from Climate Impacts: An Agenda for the Next President." Drawing on our Climate Readiness Framework for Coastal Cities, the agenda identifies how the next administration should support and invest in ocean climate solutions across our five policy themes. As #ClimateWeek gets underway, policymakers and activists can use our agenda to envision how strong and sustained federal support can help coastal cities adapt to and manage climate risks. U.S. coastal cities remain unprepared for climate change. Leaders and activists focused on federal policy must carry that knowledge into Climate Week—and in the months that follow—as they shape solutions for our future president. To help frame those discussions, Urban Ocean Lab has released an agenda for the next administration: https://lnkd.in/eGBr-Vz4

Energetically🐅fighting climate change while building back nature. Our mission: To plant 1 billion mangroves🌳CEO of Worldview International Foundation in Bangkok. Join us in the fight to save the world's mangroves👇
Kamala Harris wants not only to see votes growing, but also mangroves! While politics might be blury sometimes, Harris commitment to protect coastal communities seems to be crystal clear. Even though the Biden-administration have done more than any earlier president on climate change, the rumors go that Harris will go much further. "I am proud to announce that our administration will invest $562 million to fund climate resilient projects in 149 coastal cities, towns, and counties across America.", she said during a visit to Florida: https://lnkd.in/ehqb6mHY And she continued: "To live in a coastal community is to be on the frontlines of the climate crisis." Mangrove forests only grow at tropical and subtropical latitudes. Therefore they do not grow in Europe. But in the southern part of the US, in Florida, Louisiana and Texas they are crucial for protection against extreme weather and rising tides. Their powerful roots keeping the soil and land in place! VP Harris has been vocal on climate change and has argued for the allocation of $20 billion for a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (EPA), aimed at aiding disadvantaged communities facing climate impacts. While president Biden has done more than any other president for the climate, the expectation is that a Harris administration will take it to another level. https://lnkd.in/esdWGK-p VP Harris and the Biden administration has also been instrumental for the US lauching its ever first Federal Guidelines on high quality offsets to remove CO2 from the air. The offsets and carbon credits are crucial for financing reforesation of mangroves and other blue carbon projects. To remove carbon from the atmosphere will be crucial according to the IPCC if we want to get anywhere close to reaching net-zero by 2050.
