Does my favorite sports Team impact my home value? A good professional sports team can indeed correlate with higher real estate values in a city. Several factors contribute to this relationship: 1. **Increased Economic Activity**: Successful sports teams attract fans, tourists, and events, boosting local businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and retail shops. This increased economic activity can make the surrounding areas more desirable and drive up property values. 2. **Urban Development**: The presence of a winning sports team often leads to investment in infrastructure and urban development. Stadiums and sports facilities frequently spur redevelopment projects, which can rejuvenate neighborhoods and increase nearby property values . 3. **Community Pride and Quality of Life**: Successful sports teams can enhance a city's national and international reputation, fostering community pride. This improved perception can make a city more attractive to potential residents and investors, positively affecting real estate values . 4. **Higher Demand for Housing**: The presence of a popular sports team can increase demand for housing near the sports venues. Fans and employees of the sports franchises often prefer to live nearby, driving up demand and property prices in those areas . However, the correlation is not absolute. The impact on real estate values can vary depending on other factors such as the overall economic health of the city, crime rates, school ratings, and the specific location of sports venues. Overall, while a successful professional sports team can positively impact real estate values, it is one of many factors that contribute to the complex dynamics of the real estate market. Who is you favorite pro Team? Mine : Atlanta Braves, Nashville Predators, and Jacksonville Jaguars #unitedtrustbank#sportsfan

Play-by-Play Announcer | Sports and Lifestyle Media Executive | Entrepreneur | Professor | Speaker I Leadership in Broadcasting, Podcasting, Content Development
Here are 3 questions I have after reading this detailed explanation of the proposed move of the Capitals and Wizards to a new development in Virginia. 1) What is the projected price for a family of four to attend games once the stadium opens considering how the facility is being funded? Are consumers and fans expected to pay significantly more to offset costs? 2) What are specific plans to address traffic issues from size of the metro station located there and certain bottleneck issues on Route 1? 3) What is plan B for Capital One Arena’s footprint that would be beneficial for the future of downtown DC if it is agreed to that moving the Mystics does not warrant enough dates to spend city dollars maintaining the arena?

I’ve always been a big sports fan, even though I was not that good at it (except, maybe, soccer 🙂). Apart from the thrill of the game itself, it's the strategies and mind-games teams play that have been drawing me to them. For example - lately, I’ve been thinking—what if we could apply the strategies from basketball recruiting to business hiring? 🏀💼 Turns out, there are some pretty cool parallels! From scouting for potential to building team chemistry, the way basketball teams approach recruitment has a lot to teach us about hiring the right talent in business. I dove into this idea in my latest blog and had some fun drawing comparisons. If you're into sports or recruitment (or both), I think you’ll enjoy this read! Jonathan Boyar's latest makes me ponder whether 2024 is the year of small caps. From a UK perspective it is tantalising; the FTSE 100 has just passed its 40th and much comment has been made about its relative underperformance and reasons for. So why not allocate capital lower down the scale and abroad? CME Group analysis notes (https://lnkd.in/eedeEeBk) on a long term basis that there are periods of uncertainty when small caps outperform, eg, "1990-1994: during the 1990-91 recession and its immediate aftermath, small caps again outperformed the S&P 500 by nearly 50%." and "1999-2014: in a new era of turbulence (tech wreck, 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq wars, subprime bubble, economic meltdown and quantitative easing) small caps swiftly outperformed large caps once again, with the Russell 2000 drubbing the S&P 500 by 114%." Currently there are echoes of 'turbulence', eg, Mid East war, CEE war, Taiwan election flashpoint, cargo ships re-routing, possible return of Trump, UK mortgage holders facing a £19bn hike in costs...and the Fed's Beige Book summary (29 Nov 2023) states: "On balance, economic activity slowed since the previous report...The economic outlook for the next six to twelve months diminished over the reporting period." The next summary is expected 17 January.
A quick glimpse into our thoughts on Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. and IAC and the potential for small-cap opportunity in 2024 with Jonathan Boyar on Yahoo Finance. https://hubs.ly/Q02fhdN80

Millions of college sports fans and alumni each year tune in to watch the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s and women’s college basketball tournaments, referred to as “March Madness.” But with more than one hundred games between the two tournaments—many of which tip off during regular business hours—and the prevalence of sports betting, March Madness can be maddening for employers to manage employee distractions and other legal concerns. William Grob and Zachary Zagger discuss considerations for employers during March Madness, including reminding employees of company policies on gambling and reiterating expectations for professional and respectful behavior in the workplace: https://bit.ly/49kT9rP #employmentlaw #marchmadness

People pay me to share their stories | 8+ Years in Marketing & Communications | 1st Gen. College Graduate | Retired Radio "Star"
Is it me or does it feel like every company now wants someone with years of experience for every single role, including entry level jobs? What happened to talent development? Maybe this makes me old, but back in MY day (my first entry level job was 2003, followed by 2008) companies actually tried to develop their employees. I was awful during my first 18 months of professional radio broadcasting - but my Program Director saw something in me and coached me into becoming a full time night show host. Now everyone needs 5 years experience to even be considered for simple roles. You can't expect rookies to jump to the big leagues and make an immediate impact - that's why baseball has the minor leagues, why the NFL requires you be removed 3 years from high school, and the NBA has a 1 year college rule. Even with those stipulations, talent still needs to be developed. Let's start doing that again.

I am not a sports person. I don’t know who Lobo is, but I know she ruffled feathers and sparked discussion in Albany, NY. I extracted the local comments I could capture on Reddit and Facebook- and here are the sentiments summarized neutrally by AI along with some suggestions: Defensive Pride: Many commenters expressed a sense of pride in their city, suggesting that while Albany might have its flaws, it remains a city they are proud to call home. Acknowledgment of Truth: A significant number of responses recognize the truth in Lobo's critique, highlighting a perceived lack of nightlife and entertainment options in the city, especially around the MVP Arena. Desire for Improvement: Amidst the defense and acknowledgment of Albany's current state, there's a strong desire for improvement. Suggestions for enhancing the city's appeal include addressing safety concerns, revitalizing downtown areas, improving public amenities, and more effectively promoting and leveraging Albany's historical and cultural assets. Suggestions for Improvement: Addressing Safety and Aesthetics: Commenters suggest that improving safety and the visual appeal of downtown areas. Cultural and Nightlife Development: There's a call for the development of more robust cultural and nightlife options. This includes more bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues that stay open later, as well as support for local arts, music, and cultural events. Infrastructure and Accessibility Improvements: Improving infrastructure and accessibility around key areas .Enhancing public transportation options and pedestrian-friendly areas were mentioned. Leveraging Historical and Cultural Assets: Many see Albany's history and culture as underutilized assets. Suggestions include better promotion of museums, historical sites, and cultural festivals to both locals and visitors. Community Engagement and Investment: Engaging the community in development projects and encouraging local investment were seen as vital steps towards revitalization. This includes fostering a sense of ownership among residents and businesses in the city's future. SO did AI tell us anything we don't know already? Better together. Be a part of the answer.
