Piedmont Lithium (ASX:PLL, OTC:PLLTL) is celebrating the news that the North American Lithium (NAL) Project, in which it has a 25% stake, has expanded its mineral resource estimate (MRE) by a considerable 51%. Major resource expansion Partner Sayona Mining Ltd (ASX:SYA) has announced that the resource now amounts to 87.9 million tonnes at 1.13% lithium oxide (Li2O) at a 0.60% Li2O cut‐off grade. The appointment of Brazil’s former Minister of Mines and Energy Adolfo Sachsida as an advisor to the board of St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) puts the company in a strong position to execute its growth strategy which includes the proposed acquisition of the high-grade niobium-REE Araxá Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Ora Banda Mining Ltd has appointed seasoned financial expert Doug Warden as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and joint company secretary, effective from August 28, 2024. Warden has more than 30 years of experience in leading the finance functions of ASX-listed companies and most recently was CFO of Core Lithium Ltd. In this capacity, he oversaw a $110 million equity raise to position Core with a strong balance sheet to navigate the soft lithium price environment. Before joining Core, Warden was the CFO at Resolute Mining Ltd and spent 13 years at Iluka Resources Ltd, where he held various executive roles including CFO and head of Resource Development. He replaces Gareth Jones, who has decided to step down from the role effective from August 28, 2024, to pursue different opportunities and will complete a handover period until September 6, 2024. It looks like the Australian share market will start the day flat after a mixed day of trade on Wall Street overnight. At 8am this morning, supermarket giant #Coles dropped its financial year results, which are being watched keenly not only by the markets but by consumer advocates. Back in the US, cautious investors are focused on upcoming economic data for clues on the Fed’s next move and eagerly await a slew of company earnings. Despite earlier climbing more than 200 points, the #DowJones closed up by just 65 points, or 0.2%, marking a new record high, while the broader #S&P 500 index fell 0.3% and the Nasdaq index tumbled 152 points or 0.9%. The reason for the Nasdaq’s poor performance was, of course, a drag caused by the technology sector, with the Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index falling 2.5%.
