Hiring a VP of Sales is a crucial step in any founder's journey, yet it's fraught with pitfalls. After years in the industry, I’ve learned firsthand that 70% of first hires fail! 😱 Avoid hiring jaded candidates, and never lose sight of your sales responsibilities—even after bringing someone on board. 🔑 Focus on product expertise; if they can't sell or understand your product, they're not right for you. Trust your gut—your ideal VP is out there. Don’t settle for less! Keep searching until you find someone who can drive your business forward. 🚀

Helping CEO's and Sales Leaders create high performance sales teams. 9 times sales leader. Sales leader for 3 exits worth over 400M USD. Board member,
If either Angel Reese or Caitlin Clark were applying for an Account Executive job in your company...who would you hire? These are two fantastic athletes in their own right. I haven't interviewed either of them and neither is applying for a sales job. What I saw in the course of their last few games however, really gives me a preference. If I am hiring for my startup, that I am a founder and need someone to scale my business, need to handle rejection, be a scrapper and having the most grit I can find, Angel Reese is my first call. If I am hiring 2 years down the road, now that we have tons of clients, support processes in place, staff and have a somewhat predictable sales process and need to move up market, it's time for Caitlin to join the team. This is not intended to be an in-depth analysis of their character. This is simply to illustrate that in everyone you hire in sales, you want a lot of Reese and a lot of Clark. And you need it at different time. One can only imagine what would have been if they were on the same team..... #AngelReese #CaitlinClark #recruiting #hiring #salesprofile

Founder at Spitfire Recruiting | Connecting Top Talent with Leading Organizations, Helping Clients Reduce Search Time by 50%
Just finished an great call with a client in Richmond Hill. While discussing his recruitment needs we dug deep into a big question: "Where have all the great sales reps gone?" You know the ones—hungry to succeed, always hustling, and never backing down. The reps who see every 'no' as fuel to keep pushing until they get that 'yes'. The ones who go above and beyond, not because they have to, but because it's in their DNA. In today’s market, these top-tier salespeople may be harder to find, but they’re out there. They’re the ones who thrive under pressure, build real connections with customers, and understand that sales is about relationships as much as numbers. If you're that kind of sales professional—driven, relentless, and always ready to go the extra mile—let’s connect. I’d love to see where your ambition can take you. #sales #salesleadership #hiring #growthmindset #saleshustle #hiring #jobs #richmondhill #3pl

Imagine being in a senior sales role then suddenly terminated without indication or warning, having 4 kids at home and being the sole income earner for your family... Well, this is a story about my friend Michael Schuerman who is literally experiencing exactly this. High performer, extremely good work ethic, was killing it at his company... Then, poof. And I will leave it at that... Here's the thing about Michael. He's been through a lot in his life and career. First rep to sell $1M in advertising at RELEVANT Magazine 😎 Spent 7 years building and thriving in the sales department for a gym in Central FL that was gobbled up by LA Fitness 😍 Took a brand new concept, brought it to market and blew the doors off the place getting them to $300M in ARR across 40 territories with over 1,500 total partners at a tiny little company called Zillow 😉 In his early life he heard the call and literally spent 11 months in 11 different Countries on missions that turned into him teaching in South Korea with the love of his life and new wife (right before they started their family) He is not afraid to risk or hear the call on his life. He is one of the most human centric leaders I know. He has a heart for people and wants his community to thrive. A true servant leader... Will you help my friend Michael by supporting this post? Tagging people that can help, offering him a job if you are hiring, reaching out to him with a supportive message, share/like/comment on this post? Anything you are willing to do, I am grateful to you for. And if you are reading this post and looking for a sales pro that has been around the block more times than I can count... You found him, his name is Michael Schuerman #ChangeTheGame #OpenToWork #SalesOpportunity

Sr. Visual Designer | Technology | Adobe Creative Cloud | Figma | UX Design | 8+ years of experience designing products and marketing materials for startups, technology, and marketing ecosystems.
I won't ask for any big favors for myself, but I will ask them for others. Especially for Michael Schuerman. If LinkedIn is truly for finding top tier talent and circumventing the traditional and passive application system then let's leverage it for genuine recommendations like Michael. #lookingforwork #lookingforopportunities #growthanddevelopment

Revenue Strategist at Salesloft by day, career Advisor for sales reps by night. - Former AE at Evernote, HubSpot, and Outreach
Heavy burnout in sales is common, and often leaves folks looking for ways to pivot into new careers outside of sales. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! Do a gut check and get really honest with yourself. Figure out if it's really sales, or something about your current role. A lot of times a change in departments, segment, niche, etc are just what you need to start feeling good again.
