Did you know that beyond the delicious tacos, arepas, and salsas that we've grown to love, there’s a world of produce that remains relatively undiscovered in the US? As we celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth, let's shine a spotlight on some of these unique offerings. Cherimoya: Often called the "custard apple," this fruit is creamy and sweet, with flavors reminiscent of banana, pineapple, and strawberry. Yacón: A tuber that tastes a bit like an apple or watermelon, it's eaten raw and is often used in salads. Lúcuma: A fruit with a uniquely dry texture, often used in smoothies, ice creams, and desserts in Peru and Chile. Its flavor is somewhat like maple syrup meets sweet potato. Tamarillo or Tree Tomato: While it may look like a tomato on the outside, its tangy fruit is more similar in taste to passion fruit or kiwi. Let's embrace the rich diversity that Hispanic heritage brings to our tables and our lives. Whether you're familiar with these treats or you're curious to try something new, there’s no better time than now! #CulturalFlavors #HispanicHeritageMonth2023
