WORD! (When will #EPP#Copa-Cogeca really start defending farmers and them being a part of a future proof food producing agri-system? The past decades they have been defending an EU agricultural system that diverts the bulk of the CAP subsidies, aka billions of tax payers money, mostly to the richest and capital intensive farms using the more ecological harmful practices . Millions of farmers have gone bankrupt the past decades and the ones showing that other more future proof agri-practices are possible are largely left in the cold and the mud by the EU policies). As the recently published EU Strategic Dialogue report claims: we need to urgently reconcile socio-economic positions of farmers with the planetary boundaries and help and support farmers with that.
Olivier De Schutter stresses the importance of involving and supporting farmers in our transition to a nature-friendly food system.👇 He explores this further in the chapter, 'Addressing Power and Poverty in a Crisis-Prone Food System' co-written by Chantal Wei-Ying Clément and Nicholas Jacobs in our new book, 'Regenerative Farming and Sustainable Diets'.
