Here's everything I'd do at a career fair if I 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 an internship: I remember my first career fair. 🎓 I was wandering from booth to booth, unsure who to talk to or what to say. It’s overwhelming, right? 😥 But that changed for me when I learned how to approach career fairs with a plan. Instead of feeling lost, I walked in prepared, had meaningful conversations, and ended up landing an internship that all started with an interview at a career fair. If you’re ready to turn those awkward moments into real opportunities, check out the video I made this week to teach you how to maximize your time at the career fair. 🎯 P.S. I am posting this today because I know Elon University has a career fair on Tuesday - I hope my Elon connections attend, and LMK if you have any last-minute questions :) #careerfair #internshipfair #studentadvice #financeinternship #businessinternship

The Business Career Fair hosted by OSU Career Services this fall was a huge success! With over 170 employers sharing details about internships and full-time opportunities, our MS BAnDS students had the chance to explore potential career paths. Companies from our Corporate Advisory Board were also present, interacting with students and providing valuable information about available roles. Our students made the most of this opportunity to network and explore their future careers. With internship applications beginning to open, it's important to highlight one of the most important places you can discover internships like mine at TD – career fairs! As a matter of fact, I discovered TD at Clemson University's career fair. Navigating career fairs is very similar to navigating the interview process. When I went to Clemson University's career fair, I researched the companies that were going to be there and their available internship positions. I prepared my elevator pitch and made sure that I was ready to answer any questions that I was asked during the career fair. I made sure to arrive in business professional dress and to have multiple printed copies of my resume so I could physically give one to each company's recruiter. Some companies will also have a QR code to scan to upload your resume in a digital format, so I made sure to have a copy available on my phone as well. For my peers at Clemson University, TD Bank will be returning on September 12, 2024 to Clemson University's career fair! Speaking as a student who learned about TD's internship opportunities at our career fair, went through the interview process, and have nearly completed the internship program, I cannot recommend attending the career fair enough. To view a list of all companies attending Clemson's career fair, please click on the following link: https://lnkd.in/e4JQPqyN. In the meantime, be on the lookout from Clemson's Career Center for more information regarding the career fair in the coming weeks! #TDCampus #TDCampusInfluencer #TD #TDProud #CareerFair #Banking #Clemson

Today, I had the privilege of attending the 2024 STEM Career and Internship Fair at UC Santa Cruz. Engaging with recruiters and delving into discussions about potential job opportunities was an enriching experience. One proactive step I took prior to the event was applying for relevant positions in advance. By doing so, I ensured that recruiters had access to my resume and pertinent information, facilitating seamless conversations and maximizing the impact of our interactions. As I reflect on this experience, I recognize the importance of further proactive measures to enhance future career fair engagements. What other strategies do you recommend for maximizing the effectiveness of these events? Let's continue the discussion! #CareerFair #STEMOpportunities #ProactiveApproach

Like my dad would start off when he was going to say something potentially offensive..."how do I saaay..." If you or your company are not recruiting at the #NSBE Convention...then, respectfully, what are you doing?!? 18,000+ attendees were at #NSBE50...representing ALL of the Engineering disciplines and science and technology fields ranging from machine learning and medical to cyber, materials, and information systems. MANY of the attendees had law degrees or MBAs reflecting the vast diversity in thought and educational background. MANY of the attendees were Researchers...some had Military experience...some already had secret clearances...and some were looking for their very first opportunity! There were over 1,000 Pre-College Initive (PCI)/NSBE, Jr. attendees and more than a handful who are already doing research or have started their own business. There was a separate Graduate School Conference and multiple Special Interest Groups (SIGs) ranging from Transportation to Aerospace and more. But MOST OF ALL you had a CommUNITY of LEADERS who fought and scrapped to get themselves and their chapters to the convention. In my informal statistical study over nearly 30 years of NSBE membership I can state with a fairly wide confidence interval that no other student or professional organization has as much of a role in the day-to-day activities of the chapters as NSBE student leaders! Sure, they have an advisor, but the onus is ON the student leaders to run, manage, and plan in both the long and short-term. Then...these STUDENT leaders become STUDENT Regional Leaders...then STUDENT National Leaders...or Conference or Convention Planning Chairs. What senior or graduate student do you know chaired a 30,000+ member organization or managed a $60,000+ budget planning a regional conference before they finally returned the keys to their dorm room? And just for the supplemental cherry on top, NSBE Professionals and the phenomenal World Headquarters (WHQ) Staff ensure consistency and provide counsel while adroitly add the extra 'umph' when required. You might not need an engineer, but you should want a NSBE engineer in your organization. They make excellent staff, project managers, researchers, and problem solvers. NSBE is huge on organization, legacy, and culture. Maybe you don't have it in your budget for the biggest booth, but at least give your best effort for a few years and send your best people to reflect your corporation. So, if you're not recruiting at NSBE Conventions, I would suggest you ask your #HR or #recruiting staff..."why"? #STEM #NSBEGOLD #career #engineer #CareerFair #recruiter #hiring #interview #JobSeeker #SummerIntern #CooperativeEducation #science #technology #ComputerScience #AI #SWE #Cyber #EngineeringEducation #GradSchool #MedicalSchool #MBA #LawSchool #PatentLaw #DoD #Military #CivilianCareers #FederalEmployment #Talent National Society of Black Engineers NSBE Professionals | National Society of Black Engineers
