This recent news covered by the Aviation Week Network shows that Pratt and Whitney are in deep waters, and nearly 40% of their parts supplied to Airbus will need inspection. Due to the surge in unscheduled checks overhauls, turnaround times (TATs) may grow to 300 days. MTU, a maintenance provider, mentions that capacity challenges and parts shortages are resulting in longer TATs. Here, I have mentioned five critical lessons for aerospace manufacturers emerging from this situation. #aerospace #prattandwhitney #defects

50 Airframes Ordered: The State Of The Airbus A350F In 2024 In July 2021, #Airbus announced that it would be offering a new purpose-built, next-generation freighter in the form of the #A350F. The offering stands out as the only freighter to have a composite airframe - one that promises to offer more range, volume, and payload than the popular #777F. With entry into service now delayed by a few months, the program has been slowly picking up orders. The jet is slightly behind its #Boeing 777X rival in terms of sales but is still projected to enter service earlier. So what is the latest news concerning the Airbus A350F? In our recently published outlook for aerospace suppliers and engine makers, we explore the aircraft production deficit. Compared to what Boeing and Airbus promised in mid 2022, early 2023, only about 300 to 400 airplanes are missing, though that increases to 700 under our scenario by 2026. This is versus plan for the manufacturers, not versus any true measure of need. But a start to exploring this gap. Compared to a global narrowbody fleet of over 16,000, the numbers don't seem that material. Even when adding the effects of the geared turbofan inspection (about 350 or 400 aircraft per year) I would expect there are sufficient aircraft in the market to supply needs. Those with a Bloomberg subscription can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dDuUQcft We explore this deficit more tomorrow (5/21) in our 10ET webinar that includes Dr. Stuart Hatcher of IBA. Its open to all, you don't need to be a Bloomberg subscriber, and free. Register at the below link to attend: https://lnkd.in/ebgPs4y6 #gtfiv #boeing #airbus #RTX #GEAerospace
