Moje omiljeno mjesto na svijetu ❤️ My favourite place in the world! 🎧 I love listening to James Shooter’s #TheRewildPodcast and this episode on #Velebit mountain goes straight to the heart. It is great to hear what Rewilding Velebit is doing to preserve nature and engage with the local community to develop nature-based, local economies. —> Listen here: https://spoti.fi/47Bl2eO 🏔️ Velebit mountain is truly unique. From its coastal side smelling of thyme during hot summer days, to its inland beech and spruce #forests. From the depth of its pits rich in unique forms of life to the rocky peaks overseeing Lika plains on one side and the Adriatic Sea on the other. 🐻 From north to south, Velebit is a marvel of wilderness and diversity, hosting brown #bears, #wolves, #lynxes, roe deer, wild horses, #vultures, and countless other species. Moreover, its heritage is a proof of how valuable human activity can be when it is based on nature. 🌲Typically, when hiking in Velebit you will see thick forests opening up in #grasslands. These grasslands diversify #habitats, as flora and fauna inhabiting them is specific to grasslands. 🌾 It may look like grasslands have been there forever, but they are man made. Inhabitants of the area used to spend winter months closer to the sea and move up in the mountain during warmer months. They used to live in summer huts and clear the nearby areas from the forest for farming and pastures. Grasslands created in this way were maintained through pastures and human activity. With rural depopulation and decline of traditional economic activities, grasslands that are not actively maintained tend to quickly reconvert to forest, causing #biodiversity loss. 🌳 Thriving local communities and #naturebased economy are key to protecting and enriching wild areas. #Rewilding
🎙️ Episode 10 of #TheRewildPodcast is here! To look at the 145km long forested hillsides of the Velebit Mountains, you would be forgiven for thinking it was a pristine wilderness, but beneath the canopy humans have long shaped the landscape and the animals that live there. The Rewilding Velebit team is reinvigorating trophic chains, through releases of both herbivores and carnivores alike - but are also on a journey to rebuild a rural economy built on non-extractive means. 🎧 Listen here: https://spoti.fi/47Bl2eO 🎨 Gemma Shooter Featuring Marija Krnjajić, Nino Salkić & Blazenko Buneta. Produced in collaboration with Rewilding Europe.

Blair Boyer MP, the 1st Minister for Education, Training, and Skills | South Australia VISION: Embracing Cultural Diversity and Language Enrichment: The Ninti Way Storybook In a world where diversity is celebrated and cultural heritage is cherished, the global powerhouse led by Blair Boyer MP, the 1st Minister for Education, Training, and Skills, has embarked on an interactive approach to nurturing and fostering children with a new vision. This vision is deeply rooted in understanding the growth of culture intertwined with the soul of multilingualism and multifaceted talents within multicultural communities. At the heart of this initiative lies The Ninti Way Storybook, a captivating narrative that encapsulates the essence of cultural interconnectedness and celebrates the rich tapestry of traditions that make each community unique. The story follows 'Papa the Dog' as he embarks on a journey around the Anangu Lands, visiting animal mascots in their respective communities. What sets The Ninti Way Storybook apart is the collaborative effort that went into its creation. The animal mascots featured in the book were meticulously developed in consultation with Anangu staff and families across each site. This inclusive approach allowed the community members to decide which animal would best represent their community, ensuring that the story is deeply rooted in authenticity and cultural relevance. Through the pages of The Ninti Way Storybook, Anangu children are provided with a window into a world where they can see themselves reflected – a world where their culture, language, and environment are celebrated and embraced. This not only fosters a sense of pride and belonging among the young readers but also serves as a powerful tool for preserving and passing down traditional knowledge and values to future generations. Through initiatives like The Ninti Way Storybook, led by Blair Boyer MP, embracing diversity and promoting cultural understanding paves the path for a more inclusive and harmonious society. These efforts allow us to celebrate our differences and unite for a brighter and more interconnected future. In a world where storytelling is evolving, the children of Australia are rising as the next generation of journalism masterminds. With a natural talent for creativity and a passion for uncovering the truth, these young individuals are reshaping the way news is shared and stories are told. As the future CNN and BBC News Network, they bring a fresh and dynamic approach to news reporting, connecting with audiences on a personal level and revolutionizing the media landscape. Empowered to share their perspectives and shape narratives, these young storytellers are set to lead the way towards a more inclusive and diverse future of mass communication | Journalism.
It was really special to read The Ninti Way Story book while I was at Mimili Aṉangu School today. The story follows ‘Papa the Dog’ on his journey around the Anangu Lands, visiting animal mascots in their respective communities. Each of the mascots were developed with Anangu staff and families across each site to decide which animal would represent each community best. The book has been developed so that Anangu children have access to new and culturally relevant resources where they can see themselves, their culture, language and environment reflected.
