Went to a garden party. On Sunday, April 7, Project Angel Food's Circle of Angels Garden Party unfolded as a vibrant celebration of hope and philanthropy. It was the inaugural event at David Cooley's expansive 4,000-square-foot Trousdale Estate, showcasing a collection of modern art masterpieces and photography. This event drew Circle of Angels donors and their guests into an engaging tapestry of storytelling, exquisite culinary delights, meaningful fundraising efforts, and warm social engagement, all crowned with an intimate performance by #1 Billboard emerging artist Em Beihold ("Numb Little Bug" "Until I Found You" "Maybe Life Is Good"). The gathering marked a historic moment for Project Angel Food, raising funds for more than 43,000 meals — the highest ever at a Circle of Angels Garden Party, initiated by a substantial $50,000 donation from CAA Co-Chair Kevin Huvane. 25 years ago, in 1998, on the Monday before Thanksgiving, the legendary George Michael dedicated his time volunteering in the Project Angel Food kitchen, where he tried out his not so polished culinary skills by baking cakes. He autographed the recipe he was using and even drew a picture of a cake on the page, labeling it, "George's First Cake." Today, that cherished recipe proudly graces the walls of our kitchen, reminding us of the goodwill he shared. In the wake of George Michael's passing, a group of dedicated individuals from his vast international fanbase united to form Lovelies.help. Their mission? To honor George's legacy by continuing his tradition of doing good. Over the years, Project Angel Food has been fortunate to benefit from the generosity and compassion of this incredible community. Recently, Lovelies.help organized a fundraising effort for Project Angel Food, ensuring that the spirit of George Michael remains alive and well. As a testament to their dedication, a star in George Michael's honor will be unveiled on Project Angel Food's Path of Angels, situated in front of our building. This heartfelt dedication ceremony is scheduled for the Monday before Thanksgiving, on November 20, 2023. The event will unfold live at noon at Project Angel Food, where we are thrilled to have K-Earth 101 superstar Lisa Stanley and Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub in attendance to bestow this prestigious honor. However, we understand that this moment is not just for our local community, but for George Michael's fans around the world. So, the dedication ceremony will be live-streamed, allowing George's devoted fans from across the globe to participate in this touching tribute.
