The oceans are stressed with more than enough factors that will only worsen with the next few years...Miami's heat-based bleaching being one example! Holistic blue-carbon restoration taking place over decades is one major solution that belongs in the Drawdown toolkit but unlike old-school capitalism, we cannot waste time arguing over whose solution is better. We need all hands on deck! At ProjectQRSargasso, we seek to advance a paid environmentalism model using the valorization of sargassum algae to fund our own blue-carbon restoration work. Ideally, this should ultimately resemble U.S.A.C.E. coastal restoration projects, taking place over the span of decades.

Marine Biologist, Ph.D. | CERP (Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner) | Promoting science-based strategies to restore coral reefs for all.

With coral reef restoration science and practice, we have the life support system that buys time for coral reefs' adaptation to climate change. Don't fight with restoration practitioners and researchers. Don't waste your time arguing if we frag or not a coral to propagate them. We know restoration is not the silver bullet to stop coral reef loss. Invest your time better in promoting and seeking climate change action now! Let's divide and conquer. You study, lobby, vote, educate for climate change mitigation. I'll keep working day and night to keep them alive while you find a solution. We really need to up our game with climate change mitigation! Deal? #climatechange #GenerationRestoration #coralreefs #coralbleaching https://lnkd.in/grgFH9bJ
