Community outreach doesn’t just mean corporate giving at Prolink. Our leaders are dedicated to partnering with organizations that are making an impact in our neighborhoods. Chief People Officer, Jessica Bacher is doing just that. Please join us in congratulating Jessica on her new board position at Dress for Success! Her involvement started in 2020 and includes organizing interview preparedness events, fundraising for the organization’s largest annual #charity event, and even volunteering with her children. “As a professional woman, the organization’s mission is near and dear to my heart. Dress for Success helps marginalized women gain financial independence and confidence by providing professional attire, tools, and development,” says Jessica. Gen Z is poised to represent about 30% of the global workforce by 2030, and they aren’t shy about engaging with the causes they care about, including issues like climate action, racial justice, gender equity, and mental health awareness. As this generation enters the workforce, they’re giving #nonprofits early glimpses of their spending habits, like their average $758 to charitable causes. 📈 Here’s what nonprofits need to get right about #GenZ donors ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wNUoL

Charity Consultant. Helping you unlock your charity's superpowers through practical support, learning, strategy, and transformational change.
It’s not news, but this is a good reminder for charity leaders (and all leaders actually). If you’re really committed to diversity and inclusion, it has to be a through line in your organisation. That includes the board. Yes, it’s ‘harder’ to recruit this way - but it’s harder because it’s not a social norm for a wide range of people to be trustees, there are structural barriers in place, and some recruiters act as if they’re helpless in the face of the challenge. It doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive, but you do need to commit and not give in at the first hurdle. Change comes when you make a change. (I might have to put that on a T-shirt). If you have a recruitment policy that sets out how you encourage diversity of experience and perspective, apply it in your trustee recruitment. If you don’t - write one or get some help (and hey, I bet there are some brilliant members of Fair Collective who could help you!).
Nothing new to note. Just a quick reminder. We can't make a change without broader: • Representation. • Perspectives. Escaping groupthink is impossible, when 92% of trustees are white, older, and have above-average income and education (Taken on Trust, Charity Commission 2017). Keen to attract more diverse trustees? Make 5 simple adjustments to your hiring process: 👉 Actively encourage applications from under-represented groups. 👉 Keep it anonymised. 👉 Look beyond your usual network. 👉 Invite a diverse interview panel (use external panellists if necessary). 👉 Pay interview expenses. Board diversification takes time. That's OK. But for more informed decision-making, your board needs to be open - safe - for a variety of lived experiences. P.S. The Collective is a safe space for everyone. We especially want to make sure we are a safe space for LGBTQIA+ people, neurodivergent and disabled individuals, and racialised communities. So proud of these young women I had the honor of teaching this semester! They created campaigns for Carrie’s Closet, a non-profit organization near and dear to my heart. In honor of our beloved friend and fashionista, Carrie Hamstra, Carrie’s Closet provides boutique-style pop-up shopping experiences for women who are unhoused or experiencing crisis. Loved their insight-inspired campaign concepts: —Insight: Women volunteer and donate so others perceive them as compassionate. Campaign: Be a Compassionista —Insight: Regardless of your economic situation, belonging is essential to survival. Campaign: Find Your Fit —Insight: People donate clothes to absolve themselves for wasteful shopping habits. Campaign: Closet Karma
